The first thing that came to mind is grinding those coins efficiently.

I noticed during the run that there are about 7 to 8 repeated patterns in the car minigame. So, you can memorized each pattern to get a faster time. However, I'm unsure if it's random or not.

Secondly, when to do the grinding and how much. For me, I see it would be efficient to distribute the grind and the building, since you need money. The thing is how much, and how many structure can we fit before we have to start grinding?

Any idea?

It's what the title said. For some reason, the link to the Discord server is not working. Me and my buddies were trying to join in to no avail. Any idea?

He just... Poof!... Out of existence. His speedrun.com profile got deleted. His Youtube channel got dusted away by Thanos. I was beginning to get worried. What happened to him that caused him to drop from the faces of Earth?

So, we are trying to change the trophy icon in the leaderboard, but for some reason, it didn't update to the icon we used. What is even more weird is that when we look at the 'Edit Theme' tab, it is clearly shown that we have indeed change the icon into a new one. Is this a normal occurrence or one in the millions? How can we fix it?

So, we have encountered a little unforseen problem here. One of the level of the game I moderated has, what I described as 'impossible category'. What I mean of this is that it is impossible to even complete that particular category, or categories in this case, for IL run. To give context to the problem: In the leaderboard, there are three main category:

  1. Any% - Self-explanatory.
  2. Any% Minigame - Similar to normal Any%, but required to play the minigames once with one exception.
  3. 100% - Collect all the jewels for the accessories by playing all of the minigames twice with a few exceptions. The problem lies in the fifth and final chapter. It is the only chapter that doesn't have any minigames in it, which means it is impossible to submit a Any% Minigame and 100% run of that chapter in IL leaderboard run. So, can it be removed for this special case, or it is what it is?

Thank you.

Hello, SOS. So, I am a moderator of a game that I cherish the most. So, we decided to add our own custom speedrun.com logo for the leaderboard. However, every single time when I upload the logo, with or without the decoration, the logo ends up too small to be even readable. Me and the other guy are in a pinch here. How to make the site's logo bigger on the site itself?

I have ran this particular game, My Little Pony Crystal Princess: The Runaway Rainbow (GBA) for over a year now. Ever since I post my run on the leaderboard, my love for this gane hasn't diminished despite how infrequent I play this game. I even got it on OSC this month, despite, admittedly, felt guilty for "cheating" its way to be accepted.

Then, @alecomac came into the scene. Evem though he has just run the game, I see the potential for him. Together, we have made breakthrough for a theory I hypothesise a long time ago.

Then, we take the next step from that evolution and make a Discord server for this game.

Yes, you heard me right! A Discord server! You know this game has been taken seriously when there is a dedicated server to one small, obscure game. Here it is if you don't believe it: https://discord.gg/q24K8xFb

Suffice to say, I am proud to be the runner of this game.

I want to expand my diverse roster so I need some recommendations from you. Here are my proposals:

  1. NO RPGs. I can't stand the long run.
  2. Any genres are welcomed. However, I prefer platforming (2D, 2.5D, or 3D), racing, and adventure game.
  3. Preferable Any% time: 20 minutes ~ 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  4. Have a lot of potentials when it comes to skips and glitches that are yet to discover.
  5. Have little to no RNG in its run.
  6. The game has a moderate communal activity, but also quite obscure, according to the OSC's definition.

So, here is my roster:

  1. My Little Pony Crystal Princess: Runaway Rainbow (GBA).
  2. Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (DS)
  3. Shrek the Third (PC, PSP)
  4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Xbox).
  5. Winx Club (GBA) [Not yet joined].

Okay, so I'm new to this website, just sign in. But there's one thing that buggering me, and I don't know if this forum is appropriate or not.

So, here's the question. When I upload the split(s) of the game to the Resource section and someone downloads that split, does it make up a new one on Livesplit or other split or does it still retain my time segment?

MalaysiaGhostHNW3 years ago

So, I'll create the thread for all the level in the DS just to keep my sanity and to avoid clutter the forum post with this kind of post. Okay, so the level in the DS version are as followed in order:

  1. Skatepark /
  2. Philly /
  3. Harbor
  4. Museums
  5. FDR
  6. Lansdowne
  7. Monuments

So, I have covered the Skatepark, so I put on a tick '/' there to indicate. Okay, back to the point, next up, we have Philly. The goals are:

  • High Score - 60,000
  • Pro Score - 90,000
  • Sick Score - 300,000
  • Pro Combo Score - 25,000
  • Sick Combo Score - 50,000
  • Collect SKATE
  • Collect COMBO
  • 360 Indy (A +Right) the Car Kicker
  • Grind the signs -Find the Secret Tape

So, I made a map of Philly containing all of the goals in Classic Code, but apparently I can't drag the picture here, so I'll describe it. Most of the goals, mainly the COMBO letter, grind sign and the Secret Tape are located at the west side of the map. The Car Kicker is located at the south side of the map, almost centred.

A grind sign can be found at the beginning of the level as the player spawn in. So, how do we route it?

MalaysiaGhostHNW3 years ago

Okay, so after I familiarise myself with the control of the DS version of the game, I think it's time for the next part, the routing. For this, I mainly focused on the first level, which is Skatepark. The rest of the level I may cover about later.

So, the goal for this map are as follows:

  1. High Score - 25,000
  2. Pro Score - 50,000
  3. Sick Combo - 150,000
  4. Pro Combo Score - 5,000
  5. Sick Combo Score - 15,000
  6. Collect S-K-A-T-E
  7. Collect C-O-M-B-O
  8. Nosegrind (Up + X) the Dozer Blade
  9. Spine Transfer (R) The Pools
  10. Find the Secret Tape.

The C-O-M-B-O letter is located along the right side of the train track, which is near the spawn point. The S-K-A-T-E letter is located outside of the warehouse, near a halfpipe with ramps on both sides align together. The Dozer Blades can be found right next to the crane. The Pools is literally right next to the player when spawning on the far side of the quadra-pipe. The Secret Tape can be found in the area where the tutorial for spine transfer a bit higher.

Here are the moves with its respective button presses and its points without the combo: (Y + Up) - Impossible - 100 points (Y + Down) - 360 Shove It - 100 points (Y + Right) - Heelflip - 100 points (Y + Left) - Kickflip - 100 points (A + Up) - Nosegrab - 300 points (A + Down) - Tailgrab - 300 points (A + Right) - Indy - 300 points (A + Left) - Melon - 300 points (Y + Up + Right) - Inward Heelflip - 350 points (Y + Up + Left) - Hardflip - 360 points (Y + Down + Right) - Varial Heelflip - 300 points (Y + Down + Left) - Varial Kickflip - 300 points (A + Up + Right) - Madonna - 300 points (A + Up + Left) - Japan - 420 points (A + Down + Right) - Airwalk - 450 points (A + Down + Left) - Benihana - 360 points (Up + Up + A) - 360 Sal Flip - 700 points (Down + Down + A) - Ollie North - 600 points (Up + Up + Y) - Kickflip to Indy - 900 points (Down + Down + Y) - Hellflip Varial Lein - 900 points

So, where do I begin?

MalaysiaGhostHNW3 years ago

I am quite new when it comes to glitch hunting, only being interested in it for a month now. And I have a question for all of the glitch hunter. Also I did post this similar question at Reddit but the only advice I got is a bit hard for my head to wrap around, so...

Okay, context.

I ran this game for a year now in 2 different accounts, since I forgot the password for the first one :(. I have a theory about a possible NPC movement manipulation so I download mGBA because it has a memory viewer. However, I don't know how to do because I mainly find glitches and skips through gameplay rather than looking through the code. So, does anyone here has any advice? Please make it simple for me to understand.

MalaysiaGhostHNW3 years ago

So, I recently download the DS port of Proving Ground and I see that it is vastly different to the console version. It is more akin to American Skateland so shouldn't the DS port of Proving Ground be its own separate category or a new game?

MalaysiaGhostHNW3 years ago

So, I have been thinking about this for a long time, so here it is.

In Chapter 1, you have to collect three flags in the palace for Whistle Wishes. Normally, as far as I'm aware, the blue unicorn will always go up, blocking your path to the flag directly. Luckily, the hitbox of the flag makes it more forgiven. The yellow unicorn is easy to dealt with since she only moves down AFTER you obtain the second flag. The worm in the room with Princess Cherilee will move down, so the player must go straight and go down-right to get the third flag. This is most annoying part because then, you have to go back up-left and go straight.

Now, for the juicy part. For some reason, if I can recall, if you position Rarity just in the right spot when transition to the next scene, the blue unicorn will instead go down, giving you a direct path to the first path. However, the second one will instead go down after you're in the room for about 3 seconds. Luckily, there is a zone where the second unicorn cannot enter, I supposed, so with the hitbox of the flag. The third flag can now easily obtained because the worm would stay stationary, which gives you a direct path in and out of the room.

I think I did got the manipulation in the WR and the video I'll be published in my new channel (since I forgot the password). The reason I called it 'possible' is because right now, as of I'm writing this post, there's not a consistent setup yet and really lack of understanding of this.

I may look more into this.

MalaysiaGhostHNW3 years ago

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/speedrun/comments/i9zzgy/a_consistent_setup_to_preform_the_pirate_ship/ A little context here:

As I mentioned in the video, I found a consistent way to clip through a particular wall in the Pirate Ship level. Here are the step:

  1. Run head-on to the small ledge until there's a smoke coming out from Puss's feet but he isn't moving forward.

  2. Perform the block (R trigger) and turn around about 90° to the right.

  3. Walk forward and perform the block such that Puss's left paw touches the right side of the third screw from the left as shown in the video.

  4. Perform the parry jump (R trigger + X) and ground pound (X button + Circle button) once you touch the curved wall.

  5. Still in block mode, turn Puss so he faces to the camera and perform another parry jump.

If done correctly, it should clip Puss through the wall far more consistent, save about 2 to 3 minutes by skipping the lever to pull down the wall and its associate cutscene.

Okay, I still can't find a way to replicate the skip yet...but I have a possible theory. After you switch the lever to open a locked door, there will be a cutscene and then Arthur would stand there, waiting. If you somehow die, Arthur and the lever would disappear but the door to the end would not. So, I have some progress. First of all, there is this place that is between Arthur and the archway that leads to the the door. When I parry jumps into that place, the collision between Arthur and the wall, if position correctly, will push Shrek upward when you preform a jump (in PSP version, that would be the 'X' button). If there is a way to not only make it work but also make it consistent, then, High High Peak Skip would be plausible. However, we also have to taken account that all version of Shrek The Third ( WiiU, PS2, PS3, PSP, X360, PC, Wii) works differently from each other. So, it might be possible that this may be exclusive to some version.

As of I 'm writing this post, I have yet to found a consistent way to preform the clip nor any usefulness to this other than maybe a few seconds from Prison Cell Block section and the end of the High High Peak section.

For the Prison Cell Block section, you can clip through the gate that leads to the three button puzzle, right after you fought the tree enemies. I found this one to be the easiest to clip through as I sometimes clip through the gate first time without any setups.

At the end of the High High Peak section, there was a section where the door to the end of the level is locked and you were supposed to pull over the lever to open it. This would, in theory, be a huge time saver in the run, estimated to be 30 seconds or so, as you skip doing that. As of right now, I haven't found a consistent setup.

Possible time save: About 35~40 seconds.
