This would be adding a category just for the sake of adding it at this point. There’s no new dynamic to just playing cups together.
Sorry for getting to this so late. I’m really not sure, this’ll be horribly impractical and it’s highly unlikely that many people will run these categories. Not that slippy penguin categories are highly ran either, but I’d rather not overload the leaderboard with categories. If you can present a solid argument to add it though, I’ll put it under more consideration.
The photo did work at one point, but yeah I’ll take care of it. And it’s true that it can easily be photoshopped, though I have enough faith in the community to feel alright allowing this given you have to be a real goof to fake a high score record, on crossy road, on Speedrun.com when it’s not even an actual speed running category. To be honest with you, I would’ve never ever created the category in the first place because I think it’s dumb to have a category on Speedrun.com that isn’t speedrunning. But, it was added before I was mod, thus I leave it be.
Kinda pointless is an understatement this is nearly entirely the purpose of the forum lol
Tough to say. I've noticed that my current console has extremely slow loading times in comparison to others, while if you watch some of Insane's videos he gets pretty similar loading times to Menozen, and I definitely feel comfortable trusting Insane considering I've watched his stream a few times and he doesn't even use a cap card. If I may ask what exact console are you playing on? Because my black wii has ridiculously slow loading times. In comparison to my old wii, I'm losing 7 seconds to loading time just in a cup run.
It can be, like, ~3 seconds per race. It would make the optimal platform for this game emulator which in reality would be very backwards. Even between certain normal Wiis loading times vary. I recently got a pb on shell cup by 7 seconds and looked back and saw that my little igt was 14 seconds faster in my new pb, and then I realized I'm playing on a different wii console than the one I got the pb on.
In my opinion rounding up makes no sense. It's technically reporting an incorrect time. An 8:03.95 is an 8:03, therefore insane is rightful to submit an 8:03. You can't try to employ your subjective opinion against what's actually logical.
Fair enough, though I've heard some others say they'd prefer runs to get verified quicker.
Isn't it up to the one mod that's actually active if it is a big deal? He told me personally that he wants more mods and that I should make a post like it this.
First I'd like to preface this by saying I've tried going to the mkwii discord about this and that accomplished nothing. Essentially, Mario kart wii only has one active mod. For a game as large as it is this is simply not ok. I've talked with Jcool (the only active mod) a bit personally and he's made it clear that there definitely should be more mods helping him out. I'd be more than willing to be a mod, given that I'm very active on the site and am very knowledgeable of the game. I'd also recommend the users "Insane" and "Frikkinfriks14" to be added as mods as well as they've both shown that they're willing to be mods and are knowledgeable of mkwii. Also it should be clear that this is nothing personal to the other mods, just simply that I care about the community for this game and having the one and only active mod for the game overwhelmed with managing the game is really bad for the community in the long run. Thanks for the help!
Maybe start with some of the non-glitch cups to get warmed up to it, along with star because gv ultra is simple. Also don't feel inclined to have to do a run on balanced items, each other setting adds a different dynamic to the run.
I believe older versions of the game don't have the cutscene. I know my friend who got it on release day doesn't have the cutscene, but my disc from late 2007 does have the cutscene.
Yes, but if it's not used in the TAS that poses other questions.
