Hi all! I’ve been really interested in trying to get into running this game as I’ve been looking for a bit of a longer game to commit to! I currently only have experience running Shadowgate on NES so would like to have two games on the go, one longer one shorter.

The issue is I really where possible like to play on original hardware and the original releases of games.

I am wondering as a UK resident, is there any way to achieve this? Was there a PAL release and what is feasibly the way I can play the oldest and most original form of this game.

Hope I can get a good solution on original hardware as I’d love to get involved!!

So to stream from NES console to TV and to my PC I ordered a usb - (A) RCA female video capture device like you mention, (B) a 3 male RCA - 6 female RCA cable, (C) an RCA male to 2 RCA female splitter and (D) a male - male RCA cable.

So with the yellow and white from the console I split the white with splitter (C) so I now have a yellow red and white, these 3 go into one of the sets of female RCA from (B) with the male ends of (B) going to the TV, and the the RCA - RCA (D) leads from the leftover female connections from (B) to the usb device (A).

It sounds fiddly but when you look at it laid out it makes sense. There may be other ways but this way works great for me.

I too am curious about this, less about what is possible on PAL and not NTSC but vice versa, are there specific tricks or strategies that are not possible on PAL?

Awesome thanks, I’m gonna stick with the PAL until I get a good route and get the hang of it and then try and find a US NES.

I apologise if this is submitted elsewhere, I’ve tried looking for this specific answer but couldn’t seem to find it. I’m relatively new to speed running, having started first with streaming Shadowgate runs and I’m new to Ninja Gaiden. I have been playing on the PAL Shadow Warriors version, and although I’m aware optimally this is not ideal, for learning and early runs/times I was wondering if this is a valid format to submit? Thanks.

As a sub questions, I assume getting a North American NES and copy of the game would be the ideal way to play for top times and top runs?
