Tried 240SX twice, only stage 0 - stage 2.
First attempt failed miserably, because I couldn't even win the second URL race no matter what I did. Then I finally managed to win it after I bought the remaining stage 1 upgrades (weight reduction and tyres).
Second attempt:
Corolla - 49:59 240SX - 52:05
I did the very same races with both cars, the only difference is that I had to buy all stage 1 upgrades with 240SX, which is like a minute lost. I also didn't count that I failed to win the second URL (I NEVER failed any URL with Corolla), so 240SX is still one minute slower and that's just first two stages, where Corolla is not really a great car.
Just out of curiosity, I tried to play stage 3 and ran into issues with one street x and also one drag, since 240SX has low top speed with stage 1 upgrades. The car also oversteers a lot and has a tendency to bounce off when you do wall-hugging trick. Overall, I don't see any reason how could 240SX be any faster than Corolla throughout the entire run.
I'm gonna try MX-5 again as that car feels the most balanced out of these 3, although I remember I had the same issues with the second URL.
Well, some events appear randomly, so I have to improvise on the fly. The only serious change compared to my previous run is to do as many events in the beginning of stage 5 as possible in order to unlock the required amount of 35 events. In my first run, I had to backtrack and do some long circuits.
I use manual transmission, so that's probably the reason why the shifting seems a bit odd. Sometimes I made a mistake and downshifted too much or kept higher gear for too low speed. Well, it's not that easy to learn sweet spots since you constantly upgrade your car, but I'll get it eventually.
There's also some sort of bug in later stages (probably due to some upgrade) with 1st gear. It's clearly visible at the very beginning when I drive the 350Z out of the airport.
Huh? What do you mean by ignoring events? What questionable things? Please explain.
I've tried 240SX and it felt fast in a straight line, but then street x came and I ran into problems. I'll take another look at it and do my stage 0 - stage 3 run the same way I did my latest run with Corolla. Maybe you're right, although there is definitely a difference in handling between these two cars, but it's possible the 240SX's acceleration and top speed outweights it.
Golf is widely used online as a drift car, but it's possible there is a better car. I've actually tried to drift with 240SX and it was definitely better than Corolla, but still pretty hard to control on downhill drifts.
It's not about the characteristics the game displays, it's about how fast the car actually is. I have no idea how the game actually measures handling, but it's totally wrong for most cars.
I did many practice runs with most of the cars on a stage 5 circuit and the fastest car was always Corolla with MX-5 followed by a couple seconds. Corolla has simply so much better handling and braking that you can attack corners with much bigger speeds. All the other cars either suffer from understeer (Civic, P206, Golf - FWD cars) or they're too heavy - basically every car you unlock including 240SX
240SX is only good for one event - Drag For drifts it's probably Golf or MX-5, maybe Civic, but I haven't tested it much. Everything else -> Corolla
You can leave U2 guide to me, I'm currently running it and have a pretty decent strategy, I think.
Yeah, I'm down to SS2 coop, although I recall there is some issue with high ping. There could be several possible skips assuming the game only checks chapter completion for one player. As for other SS games, we (SSDQ team) already made a coop run of TSE classic, unfortunately it's still being processed after many years...
It's been several years since I played this game, so not sure if I can help you with categories, but for the timing, I think the timer should stop when you finish the last race or when the game shows you that you've completed the game like in U2.
I've added ProStreet to NFS series and made you a mod, so you can edit the categories as you like.
I'd rather see more competition in RTA category than having low% category, which doesn't really make sense in a racing game imho. It would basically mean driving the entire game with the slowest car and that to me feels like speedrunning Quake with just axe, although such run actually do exist, but it doesn't last for hours and there is at least physics, which makes the run actually fun to watch while I highly doubt I could say the same about watching a "speedrun" of a racing game with the slowest car. Just my 2 cents.
I added U1 to the series, I just dont know anything about when the timing should start.
Also, if you're planning to do all the races, doesn't that make it 100% run?
Let me know what categories I should add.
That's because the site is not responsive, so people with lower resolutions and especially on mobiles will have issues.
Tryst: The site is still in beta and there are FAR more concerning issues that needs to be solved prior to W3 validator, GTMetrix and whatnot.
Seems like there is some issue with runs that have 2 video. Z-index of the first video has higher value than navbar, so whenever you scroll down, the first video covers the navbar. Example: http://www.speedrun.com/aoe1/run/29034
Then it's not really a valid run, is it? At least a screenshot of final time should be required imo.
Not sure if it was mentioned before, but I would really appreciate if you could set entirely different full-game and IL boards for each platform the game has. Many games has quite a different gameplay, some glitches doesn't work on a certain platform etc.
If you upload a background image that is smaller than the site width, it breaks to tiles (repeats). It should get stretched to fit the entire background.
Another suggestion: Request a level
Our Tomb Raider community is used to speedrun fan-made levels and there's hundreds of them, so requesting a new level when submitting one would be great :)
Also, it was already probably reported, but one player currently can't have two or more runs in the same category AND same level with different variables. As far as I understand it, your system only checks for category and runner name and then keeps the faster time, but doesn't consider different variables, which could have a completely different time like in case of Tomb Raider with glitches/no glitches variable.
