I propose to redo the categories, because the current ones are meh.
- Only "I Can Win" and "Nightmare". Other difficulties are imho pointless.
- Separate categories for "Vanilla Q3" and "OSP/CPMA" mods. Maybe add instagib.
- IL table for each level with same difficulties and mods.
- IL table for fastest flag capture in CTF maps.
Also, someone please change the background picture to Q3 :)
Suggestions (may have been posted before):
"Request a level" button - Many games (Quake, Doom, Tomb Raider) have speedruns of fan-made levels, but if someone makes a speedrun of a new level that is not in IL table, it can't be added or it has to be submitted as a different level, then mods have to edit it. Requests should be handled by game mods.
"Request a category/full-game" button - Similar stuff. Some fan-made levels are made into a full-game, which should be a separate category/full-game. Maybe it could be handled as another game in the series, but I don't think that's a good idea.
I don't remember exactly, but I think some races are different in professional? That would make for a separate category. If all the races are same, then I think it should be just variable.
Yeah, car classes could be added as a variable, although it's a similar thing like transmission. The goal is to finish in the quickest time, so why would you pick a slower class? :)
SamuraiBlue: Then tell those runners to submit their runs here. We can't track every speedrun that was made. Yes, the TR community is more classics oriented, but that doesn't mean we don't care about new TR speedruns.
Most TR speedrunners go to #tombraider on irc.speedrunslive.com. That's where the TR speedrunning community lives and talks. I've never seen anyone there running TR 2013. Why is that, I have no idea.
So if anyone running this game reads this, go to irc and we can talk.
The reason for using manual transmission is that the automatic shifts whenever you reach a certain rpm, which is not a good idea before a corner. With manual, you simply let the engine rev a bit more and you save one downshift.
Similar case is when you drive uphill without powerful engine. Automatic usually lets the rpm drop quite low before it downshifts while with manual you can stay in lower gear and high rpm for more power.
There are also cases when the automatic simply refuses to upshift to top gear. I've seen this in one of the latest NFS, which doesn't even have manual transmission option. It's really annoying when you're going 300kmh on a highway with 5th gear and just can't force the game to shift to 6th gear :)
I can't recall any racing game that has faster automatic transmission and imho runs using it should not even be accepted, because that's like not using flare cancel in Tomb Raider. It definitely wouldn't be accepted on SDA.
Does it really have to be a variable since one setting is always faster than the other one? I just don't see the point :)
The crashes are probably caused by running the game on multi-core CPU. Run the game, set affinity in task manager to just one core and it shouldn't crash.

If it's just a couple new cars, then I don't see a problem. Mod could either restrict the version to CE only, or prohibit using CE cars.
-
If it only makes the game playable in windowed mode, then I don't see a problem either. I've used similar tool in my U2 run and haven't seen any differences in gameplay.
I would like to be a mod for all games in Tomb Raider series. Currently I'm not a mod for:
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light - lcgol Tomb Raider Underworld - Tomb_Raider_Underworld Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris - lctoo
The reason for my request is that I am the founder and owner of the website TombRunner (www.tombrunner.net) that is dedicated to Tomb Raider speedrunning and has been active since 2007.
Thanks.
Minor bug: I've deleted all regions for my game, but all runs still have the region flag beside platform name. However, if you edit any run and then re-submit it, the flag disappears (only for the run you edited). Could this be done automatically so you don't have to re-submit all runs manually?
Cool, Carbon needs some work. The current RTA run from Starfight sucks.
Well, I meant glitches useful for a speedrun, not glitches like ECU glitch in U2 or OoB in PSX version of NFSIII :)
What's the glitch for PS? Could you write a guide? That would be very helpful. I'll do the same for U2 when I have more time.
You could add difficulty variable like I did in U2, at least as additional info.
Don't expect too much competition in NFS careers. It's a pretty new speedrunning territory and there are basically no glitches/shortcuts, so improving a run will usually require better driving skills and nearly perfect execution in all races, which is really hard in such long speedruns. I think it's more likely we will see competition in IL category.
I might attempt PS in future, but my priorities are currently different - U2, finish HP and then HS career
Found a website with U2 records - http://u2.wrecord.com
It's as I expected - Golf for drifts, 240SX for drags and everything else Corolla :)
I'm gonna try dyno tuning to see if it's worth the time spent.
EDIT: Nevermind, dyno tuning doesn't work for Career.
Please do so, but if you're gonna test a sprint or a circuit, make sure you don't use nitro as that can give you quite a different results depending on traffic rng.
Also, MX-5 seems to be about as fast as Corolla, at least for first two stages, but yet again there is a problem with URLs and the very first secret street x in stage 3.
