Hello all runners,
Current problems with this game emulation wise:
-
Timer runs slightly faster in emulator
-
Some graphics and lighting effects not popping in
-
Sound garbled.
-
Can only select Beginner in Time Trial
Because of this we are going to be separating the Original and Emulated categories for now. And in the future if emulation improves, be aware that your emulated runs might become obsolete / easily beaten when the timer is completely fixed.
Based on my own experiences running this, mixed with this review status from a bit ago by Video Game Esoterica:
Hello sorry its taken me a while to get back to you on this.
The truth is that I am not 100% sure on the best way to handle this. The fact that this port is essentially on 5 different systems, I am not sure if the correct move is to open a category just for this port, or to open categories for all the systems it is now on (maybe Xbox port runs faster than PS port for example)
Any thoughts? Want to ensure we cover this one.
Just wanted to comment that we have brought up a Raiden III board for the other platforms located here: https://www.speedrun.com/Raiden_III_Other
Have directed PS2 runners to this board in the category rules.

Currently the final time is based on the Final Time at the end of races. This allows for knocking time off by Tricks, Air time, and most importantly Snowball + Takedowns. Its also not strictly "fastest".
Alternative idea is to used Elapsed Time displayed at end of races, which is a more honest assessment of how long the race took, with no benefits to style play.
For now Ive gone with the Final Time timer, because it allows for more varied play and strategies. If other runners disagree though, we could change it in the future. Let me know what you think!
After some prodding we managed to convince someone on the TeknoParrot team to re-add the "Run in Original Resolution" flag that should address this. Testing to come soon!
Hello Chronoon
I was wondering if it would be possible to get a 2P category added?
I have a run to submit :)
Thank you!
Hello,
I was looking for this game to do a run, but couldnt find it in the King of Fighters series https://www.speedrun.com/series/the_king_of_fighters
Any chance it could be added to the Series for visibility?
Will be submitting my run tomorrow :)
Thank you!
I can add PS1 category if you would like to play it on PS1.
No phone emulators was mainly for the Arcade category. No emulators that are mainly made for phones basically.
Hello,
I was wondering if a 2P category could be created? I have a 2P run to submit.
Thank you!
I can certainly set one up if you like! But I will have to add a rule requiring some type of video proof that the lightgun exists and is being used in the run. You cool with that?
Currently this game is emulatable in TeknoParrot, however one of the minigames is broken and can not be completed. Once this is fixed the game categories will be opened up.
Come on down to https://www.speedrun.com/Jurassic_Park_Arcade for the Raw Thrills JP lightgun game! :) Recently emulated in TeknoParrot.
I see it has also been rejected due to not being a 1CC run. Would you consider making separate 1CC and Continues used subcategories as well?
Thank you. However, I was more talking about splitting them into separate subcategories entirely so they are on different lists.
I have submitted my record, but it will never be better than the PS3 or Xbox version because they seem to be very different and play very differently.
Hello Felipe,
Recently ran this one using the Play! emulator from the Arcade version.
Game seems a bit different and jankier, unlikely to ever compete with the PS2 version just due to frame rate smoothness alone.
Was wondering what people thought about splitting things into a PS2 and Arcade subcategories?
If not no problem, I can submit to the regular leaderboard and just be low rankings due to Arcade version.
