I'm assuming this could save around a minute or so off the run in total. Another thing I've thought about looking into is skipping cutscenes. The cutscenes take up several minutes from the run. I wonder if there is some way to skip some of the cutscene triggers using the ASE with the player (although many aren't caused by triggers) or simply with menuing.
Also, if I had to vote for a name for this glitch, I'd call it something like "stuck-adjusting" or "stuck-clipping", but anything works.
Yesteryday, eewalktub and I discussed a little bit about potential ASE glitches including launching the player, allowing the player to hover, and clipping the ASE out of bounds.
Eewalk mentioned that a useful area to clip the ASE was after repairing it and clipping it into the back room instead of flying through the pipe. I tested for a bit and was able to actually find a consistent setup for doing this clip. Heres a video with some more explanation:
As I mentioned, there are probably some other areas this could be useful in, or there may be some other similar glitches to be discovered. I don't have much time currently to do testing, but I'll leave this up for any other contributions.
I think it would make sense to add new updates as new tabs in each category instead of wiping all of the times.
