Maryland, USAThe most I heard about this from the OG Mod, Breastickle, is that it's heavily frowned upon in the SR community as a whole. For GB, it's mostly Emulator, or Super Gameboy 2 & the one on the gamecube. Super Gameboy 1 apparently has the games run slightly faster than the original, thus would be sorta cheating in most cases.
I can see if the other mods are fine with having this being allowed though. I'm rather neutral on it.

Just so you know, you can turn in your level 0 starts to 100 lines as well. If that is also your PB in general.
Ah I see. I was told the traditional game shark cheat codes to get the cards is allowed. I guess this is different though. Does seem a bit hacky...
Unless you're doing New Game+ that sort of thing is not allowed.
I think I know why I was thinking that though. I, so far, have ran the New Game + and still looking up the other categories before I run them. In that run, you skip the entire beginning part. But yeah, thanks for explaining things. I've only been speedrunning in general for like a week...haha

I'm sure it's fine. Worst case, you'd just have to do it on emulator or something. So just record/stream it and turn it in.

If you don't get a reply by tomorrow. I'd try asking one of the mods on Twitter etc. I have that version too. Just no real way to properly record it without it just being a camera pointed at the screen. Thus, I used an emulator.
Yeah. I tried to suggest the opposite of that where we just use all the cards. But you get almost the same result by using the Pocketstation. So that would be rather redundant lol
Sooo is there any preferred emulators to use? For one, is Bizhawk allowed? I know that one is more for tasers, but it seems to run with less lag. Maybe too fast for the game though idk.

Hey, I'm looking to speedrun this game. The first category I want to attempt is New Game+ Any%
I get that you can't use cards that can't be obtained. However, is it okay to use cheatcodes, trading, etc to obtain every card; just to build the deck from the legal cards allowed? Or do I have to get everything the hard way? I assume even if that is allowed, I can't use the pocketstation. Unless, maybe, there is someway to show the cards you have were obtained from it, and only use those cards. I hope to hear from someone soon.
Also, if anyone else wanted to do so. What if there was a Cheatcode%? Rather, a New Game+ where you say screw the rules, and have every card that is possible out of the 722, even the normally unattainable ones? Could be a fun miscellaneous category to add, if other runners were interested in that.
