Hello! With the release of the Remaster on Steam, it replaces the old 2016 Version of Red Trigger on Steam. Where would be a good place to still get the old version?

I got this when I was showing of the run at a german speedrun marathon. This is possible only when Ogre teleports close to one of the structures where he can be surrounded by pillars to combo him wall to wall. I expected a couple loops to be possible, but with that positioning this seems like a proper infinite!

Hey all! Hope you are doing well. I've been playing Devil Within the last couple weeks and had a blast with it. There is a lot of potential in this mode as a speedgame I feel so I would like to compete on a speedrun leaderboard in some way. However I am playing on Emulator, whis is banned as of now. I understand the risk which comes with allowing Emulators, especially with the main game. Nevertheless working original PS2 hardware along with some ways to record it is hard to come by. I would like to request some sort of leaderboard change where people can reasonably compete in Devil Within with the use of emulators. It could lay the foundation of more accessability, which could then lead to more discoveries and more runs. This might not happen immediately, but it would allow people to compete in the first place.

Potatoes and I have been talking about the best way to maintain and moderate the ANGER FOOT leaderboard on speedrun.com. It's been a long term struggle to make this leaderboard as user friendly as possible because of of how different versions and categories were created in a time where the direction the game would go to wasn't clear.

This is now the case again with ANGER FOOT being introduced on Steam. The challenge now: Every IL made on Steam Version automatically saves a second over V0.8. That is because in V0.8 there was a 1 second delay between ending a level and the ingame timer stopping. This difference now would trivialize all older IL runs when put on the same leaderboard.

The solution we agreed on: Making a new ANGER FOOT Leaderboard for the Steam Version. This leaderboard would be renamed to ANGER FOOT (itch.io) with the new one being named ANGER FOOT (Steam) to avoid confusion. We would be able to create a user friendly IL with Version changes in mind right of the bat. There will also most likely be less drastic changes to the base of the game after the release on Steam, making runs more comparable across Versions coming forward. There are more reasons on why I think this is a great idea, but this post is getting long enough as is.

This whole process is not 100% decided yet and I am still awaiting an answer from mod Dylenoyer before I press the trigger on this and make the request for a new leaderboard. I will post the link to the new page in this thread when we all agree and everything is ready to go.

Because of this, I will not be verifying Steam Version runs for this leaderboard until a definitive decision has been made. Sorry for those who have submitted Steam runs eagerly the past couple days, please bear with us!

Got a 8:51 run for V0.8. Tried to optimize the route with energy drinks and dash shoes but it's still a messy run. Guessing 7:30 should be easily possible.

Played a lot of this game in the past on my DSi XL, but I cant really record that thing. Would it be leaderboard friendly to play the game on desmume emulator?

it is sad to see that this game as of now is quite dead when in comes to speedrunning (and therefor in general it seems).

So, since this game has a lot to offer regarding speedrunning, and many things were left unoptimized, I have planned the following:

1. I will try to add the ominous single level runs. This is long overdue and I apologize greatly for that (Sorry anemptybox!). This game sees like it is made to be run like this, since either strats are way too risky to be in a whole any% run or they are hella safe. I'll provide them within the next week. I opt to keep them single levels and not episodes as Ch0wW suggested, can be changed in the future.

2. I want the XIII Discord to return. It was created at a time when I was not with this game anymore, I would've loved to help with a new segmented run or sharing some of my never released strats to the outside world.

There is a catch tho.

We need people. We need runners. The last record was held a year ago, several were two or more years ago, and with good reason. Competition is inexistent. But look at the Goldeneye Speedrunning Community, which originated 1999 and is still to this day alive and well, and those two games have a lot in common. What reason is there to drop this masterpiece of a game?
