thread: Max Payne 3

Hello everyone. Following the recent UI changes within speedrun.com, it is now possible to host the Arcade Modes on the main Max Payne 3 leaderboard, as it is now possible to set the difficulty filters for individual categories (they used to just apply to all categories), so this means the Arcade Mode category won't be affected by the main story categories' difficulty filters.

I will not be removing the subgame, but keeping it as a backup. All runs have been removed to avoid the case of doubles.

In other news, I will be not allowing any comments to be posted in runs, as it seems this already pointless feature has a bad side to it, as it can allow people to send unmoderated, unfiltered targeted harassment.

I apologize for the late post. The most likely explanation is that you added the autosplitter on your layout twice. Don't forget to make extra splits for Chapters 4, 5, 6 and 7! Splits should look like this:

Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4-1 Chapter 4-2 Chapter 5-1 Chapter 5-2 Chapter 6-1 Chapter 6-2 Chapter 7-1 Chapter 7-2 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14

Hello everyone. Recently there's been a change in the leaderboards. As per demand, difficulties have been changed from subcategories to filters. So now, to clear up misconceptions: Standard = Easy, Medium, Hard Hardcore = Hardcore, choose both Difficulties in the submit run page as Hardcore Old School = Old School, do the same as Hardcore except you select Old School.

Arcade mode has been moved to a sub-game of its own: https://www.speedrun.com/max_payne_3_arcade_mode For a much comfier arcade mode experience, as it won't interfere with the main game leaderboard's filters.

A Max Payne 3 runner brought to my attention that the only guide (which is a glitch guide) for the game, is missing or just shows nothing. I've contacted the maker of the guide and he told me that he can see the guide fully when he goes to edit it, but if he just views it like the others, it doesn't show.

First photo, guide not showing at all: http://prntscr.com/p8od84 Second photo, guide shows up in edit mode: http://prntscr.com/p8odqu Guide Link: https://www.speedrun.com/Max_Payne_3/guide/hb4vl

Never heard of this site bug before.

I'm against removing any of Tanya's runs. He never cheated, he never did anything shady. All of his runs were legit and he was banned from something that isn't related to cheating. And if any of his runs are removed, or all, well... Enjoy inaccurate leaderboards across all CoD games.

Now, this is a thread about issues of the whole website right, like bugs? I don't wanna sound mean but the issues with the servers are just getting REALLY out of hand. I've been using this site for a while to verify and submit runs and I come across the strangest of things. There's always a day or time of the week where the site just refuses to work. The infamous "Our servers are under pressure" message. It's happening too much and even refreshing usually just causes it to show up and certain elements of the site bugged and in really weird shapes and sizes Recently, a friend of mine has been experiencing issues with denying runs, basically once he pressed "reject" he had only like 10 seconds to put in the reason before the site would just refuse to work and cancel out his rejection and even after he like sent it there was an error message after, same error message happened to me at one point but I almost forgot about it before he brought it up today http://prntscr.com/mtp8x1

Hello everyone, since the auto-splitter is being used more and more, it's been observed that the timer for auto-splitter users only starts once the intro ends.

With this observation in mind, I made a change in the rules to make sure the competition between those who use the auto-splitter and those who don't. This change implies that anyone who doesn't use the auto-splitter can only start the timer once the intro ends.

This new timing method lets you use any intro of your choosing, 50 second or regular, since they won't matter in terms of total time anymore.

Any runs before this rule are not invalidated. This works for both Glitches and Glitchless IL runs can be started normally, this rule is only in effect for full story mode runs.

CJacobs has made an auto-splitter and it's available to use in the "Resources" tab. This auto-splitter works for all categories.

Though there is something that will happen: Score Attack is gonna be timed in in-game time. What this means is that any loading screens and main menu sections pause the timer until you're back into gameplay. The reason why this will technically invalidate runs is that every other run counts loading screens and the ones with the auto-splitter don't, making them instantly slower. This doesn't mean it's all bad, because this will help people with slow loading times not lose extra time when they're not even at fault (like me, with my current average laptop).

After a long time of thinking ever since it was implemented into a NYMHC run by CJacobs, I've decided that the cutscene skipper is allowed for the Glitchless NYMHC category exclusively. The in-game timer doesn't start ticking until the gameplay timer is in play, so cutscenes really don't matter. RTA timer isn't taken into account either (just adds extra info to the run) so no runs will be invalid because of this.

The Cutscene Skipper, like any other tools, can be found in the "Resources" tab.

Now in order to start any IL run for any chapter, you'll have to select the 2nd checkpoint instead of the first one along with the desired difficulty. This is done to avoid sitting through the first cutscene which is literally the first checkpoint. Any runs before this rule change will not be invalid but it's recommended that all runners update or remove their IL runs.

Hello everyone, I just noticed today this game doesn't have any ILs, so I added them in. Chapter Select is needed to start an IL run (obviously) and you can consult the 100% save on the Resources page to unlock Chapter Select.
