Thank you for the quick response earlier kirkq, It took me a while to figure it out, but the page works perfectly, and I set up the submissions. Is there anything else I should do in conjunction with Speedrun.com? People mentioned re-streams but I wasn't sure how that works, or if thats a different thread.

To those participating in the marathon outside of Japan there is a small gift I am going to send out after the event. This is just something fun I felt like doing to excite the community.

Right now this only will be given to the first 12 people who sign up.

Please private message DBcade on Twitch or Discord with your PO Box or Address you would like me to send the gift to. If you don't wish to share your information or receive a gift that is OK.

Please post here if you have a question or message on the discord. Thank you!

I originally tried to find interesting foreign indie game on my computer. I don't think I have the time to do all that, those are all good points!

What is the general consensus is for how long a game should be, what are some things that could cause a game to get declined?

thread: Speedrunning
Kumamoto, JapanDBcade7 years ago

It seems the game site was closed a few years back.

Apparently you the download file is hosted on the creators website; http://www.svantedanielsson.se/pandaland.html

Where to go from here?

thread: Speedrunning
Kumamoto, JapanDBcade7 years ago

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to ask what everyone thinks, I played a game called pandaland yesterday/today. It was a full release game. It's just on the short side, being 7 minutes to play. I found a warp, and a death glitch that shorten that time even further. My intention was to highlight a cute little indie game I found,

My run was rejected for the reason of "Not accepting short flash based games at this time.

I was hoping to show the game off, a glitchess/non-exploit run would still be 5 minutes. Should I explain my case to someone? Should one be more careful about the games chosen? What's too short if glitches and warps are involved? What do you all think?

Here is the run in question:

I'm not mad at the decision, I just want to hear opinions and suggestions. Feel like I wasted some time trying to find every glitch/exploit I could in the game.

Interesting. Moderators could be an issue of that particular community, I have already had great success and fails BUT... That has nothing to do with question. Let me just restate it before the topic derails.

My question is what is the connection, why do people still post on the other site.Is there a history?

thread: Speedrunning
Kumamoto, JapanDBcade7 years ago

What is speedruns.com connection to speed demos archive and other sites? Is there a split in the community? Is it shunned upon to post both places? Are there other sites I was not aware of? 〈(゜。゜)

I know that the history was that speed demos started as a quake speedrun site. In addition, it seems to still be active have a separate community but with the same games and sometimes (like for example Ikari warriors) the speedrun times are not updated on both sites.

I am not trying to spark a debate, just really curious about what the status/relationship between the two sites and other sites are currently, and what people could tell me. I tried to google this but it was difficult so I was hoping some experts on here could shed some insight. \(;゚∇゚)/

Thank you!

I really like the idea. And I would actually just love to join. There is a rather big problem. It requires speedrunslive.

In order to register for Speed Runs Live. You have to register through irc. Which I have tried on several occasions, I have asked for help. But its a little too much, and its the most frustrating thing about this community. I'm in Japan, no one uses it here, and when I ask for help in the irc chat no one responds. I tried to read the faqs, i waited for a week... nothing. It's easily been the most frustrating thing since I joined.

I realize this is not your fault, but especially for foreigner who dont use irc, its that much harder to participate. Maybe if that were somehow to get resolved, you might have an extra person to participate. Or if it does not require then that is good too.

Thank you for the setup information!

Actually recently I have been recording with OBS and it is very good. The quality seems a little lower, but since I am playing mainly older generation games, aside from Dragon Ball FighterZ. It is not an issue. Actually 1 hour of recording on OBS seems to equal only sligly over a GB. Fantastic. Thank you all so much!!!

Does anyone have recommended settings? 6000 is standard.

The default for me was:

video bitrate 2500 encoder software x264 audio bitrate 160.

Can you all help recommend a good setting like Drakodan did??? Thank you for all your time in helping me get this going right, so far I have already been able to record some WR (correctly this time). My hope if for people to enjoy the stream and videos.

Twan_Jones, that comment on not streaming was addressing the post before yours.

It sounds like recording with OBS is pretty simple. So I will use that option now.

I will check out Shadowplay later, Is it just for editing?

Thank you for the information! Keep them coming if you know of other options.

In this case I do want to stream the runs. Otherwise I would not have been asking the question.

If I am going to record, is using the OBS recording function sufficient? Any software recommendations? That's what I was hoping to take away from this.

I think this is actually important, and I didn't find anything on the FAQs or online that quite answered it so I was hoping to have the speed run communities input.

My main question is what does one do to insure that they have good recordings of their run?

I recently started using Twitch, because in order to submit records they need to be recorded that way. Makes perfect sense to me.

The problem I ran into was, that one of the games I was attempting and achieved WR for, the recording in Twitch was not good. At parts it seems to drop frames of the recording. My guess is that my connection was bad, I have since then always make sure to close anything that uses bandwidth. My connection is actually pretty great aside from what seems to be that one game.

However, I have a worry that the issue, a spike or drop in connection could cause such an error again or if ever the internet should go out... ⊙﹏⊙Should I record with OBS recording? Is there another record program that uses little resources?

Here is the run I am talking about for more context:

If I was asked to verify someones run that had jumps in it like the run I played live on twitch. Then I most likely would decline it, so I think it is reasonable to decline my own run. Am I being to hard on myself? What programs or extra actions should be taken to ensure a run is recorded? Any and all ideas, advice, and suggestions welcome. <(_ _)>

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I look forward to your responses. Let's discuss.

Hello Everyone!

Recently my friends overseas pushed me to stream and share some of the games I play. Actually it is a little overwhelming because many people have so many good videos. I had seen AGDQ previously but I didn't realize it was this popular.

Please follow and come watch my speedruns at https://www.twitch.tv/dragonballarcade

I play to many games to list but what games does everyone play here?

Where should I be posting my videos? please feel free to give advice. ۹⌤_⌤۹

I look forward to sharing and being in this community. Thank you!
