I think the main problem with this as a category is that as far as the game is concerned, you don't actually beat anything. Nothing during the run (aside from the final boss) has an impact on the game being beaten as all the crystals are already collected, meaning by default it's already quite arbitrary. And throwing in the extra warp levels doesn't add much to the run at all. You're starting the game in a beaten state so this category ends up being a string of ILs with little consequence for routing.
This is why Crash 3 NG+ is interesting, as you actually start a new game but with all the powerups as the result of the glitch. You still need to beat the game and actually collect the crystals. It introduces interesting routing as the levels still need to be unlocked. If there was a similar cheat code to WOMBAT that only did the powerups, this might give the category more validity.
I won't say that you don't have a goal there and that there isn't a set of rules that could facilitate the type of run you are wanting to do. The number one problem that stops this being considered as a category is that one of those goals can never be "beating the game" as the game is already in a beat state. If you take this category seriously and get a really good time, who knows it could be a really fun race category. I could definitely see this being hosted on some sort of category extension board, but for the reasons stated above, to keep it in line with every other crash game a run that doesn't beat the game doesn't have much of a place.
video evidence is optional from what I can find on that site
Hello everyone! I hope you all enjoyed our fall meetup! That being said, we are aware there are many areas we can still improve in, and we're looking for feedback!
Whether you are a runner, someone who came to watch at the venue, or someone who watched online, we're interested to hear what you thought!
You can either leave your feedback in this thread, or you can privately submit your feedback through this google form https://goo.gl/forms/KuV46zOIhEpVfYPu1
Thank you for your time! We hope to make the winter meetup as good as we can make it!
@Drakodan he already does run sonic OpieOP him and I do sonic 4 ep 2 coop. please add this as a category k thx bai.
If you're looking for a more modern RPG, have you considered NieR: Automata?
Hi,
This is a game I remembered fondly from years ago, so my friend and I have been playing around with the COOP mode and decided to do a few runs. Our best time so far is a 54:50 (), with a lot of space for improvement still. COOP introduces many interesting elements to the gameplay, such as the players sharing I-frames and other interesting game mechanics.
I'm wondering if you'd be able to add a COOP any% category to the leaderboards.
Thanks for your time!
Time trial leaderboards are currently well established on other sites. Here are the relevant links:
English CNK GBA: https://www.cyberscore.me.uk/group/1813/10995 Japanese CNK GBA (TT times): http://crashhouse.curahome.net/crashtime/?game=nc_gba_timetrial Japanese CNK GBA (Trophy times): http://crashhouse.curahome.net/crashtime/?game=nc_gba_timetrophy
I've done both Crash GBA any% and Crash GBA 507%. Would we be able to get a category for those?
Mike indeed approves of these changes. I also added GBA, because technically someone could play the game on a GBA also (I'm aware GBA emu is inaccurate, so of course that is not allowed for GBC, but real GBA hardware does play GBC fine, so someone could technically use it, but that's a fringe case).
sounds like fun, it's only 15mins, so we could probably do a few at the same time :P
Indeed. That was actually what I was planning on doing, I just wanted to make sure it is allowed. Although I've found out my copy of melee isn't working anymore, so I need to go get it cleaned or get a new copy :(
In unlock all characters, you are allowed to play the games in any order, but are you allowed to play multiple games at once?
Do you actually mean BST, or did you mean GMT? (We're not in summer anymore)
I should clarify, by handheld, I am solely referring to the GBA titles. Although it could be expanded to DS titles as well.
If someone were to do a run of: -All handheld crash games (XS, N-Tranced, Fusion, CNK and Titans) -All handheld spyro games (Ice, Fire, Fusion, AotR, ANB and TEN) -Both
Would we be able to get a section for handheld sprash? Not planning on it soon, just wondering for when there is time.
no one has done it yet
I mean, I saw a blind race of it today (although they gave up less than halfway through). I'll do it this week if I have time. Maybe this weekend.
The beast will be slain.
There are a few crash games that are hidden by default, you can see them by switching "and" to "or" on the crash series page (so that it looks like this http://prntscr.com/fozq6b).
Full trilogy runs can be found here, along with the sprashfecta stuff http://www.speedrun.com/sprash#Crash
There is a MISC category in N. Sane for the trilogy, but the categories may be moved about once the game is actually out and the mods make a decision. If what you're asking is why aren't there any runs yet, it's because the game isn't even out yet (release date is the 30th).
So the first thing I plan to do with this game is do the misc trilogy any%.
Would I be able to take the individual game runs from that and submit them to the normal game categories, or would that break some sort of rule?
Thanks for posting this, been trying for sub 1 hour and this will definitely help, haven't looked to much into fastest routes myself, but I'll let you know if I find anything :)
I'm new to SSF and am interesting in doing 'Beat the game glitchless'. Whenever looking into each category I am confused about the current 1st place run for the 'Beat the game' run. The rules state "Defeat Elmo as all 6 characters." but the run only defeats Elmo as Cookie. If one of the mods could explain this, that would be great!
Happy spelling folks!
