@Farmery87 - No plugs picked up at all i'm afraid. If I encounter anymore crashes i'll let you guys know. But for now I guess the Texture Filtering has fixed the issue for now.
QUICK UPDATE - Must have been a fluke. Crashing again now on the elevator. No idea now.
Quick update.
Was messing with some settings and checked the "Texture Filtering" box and it worked fine with no crashing.
Still rather confused though.

Haven't run this game in over 2 years and just got back into re-learning.
I have a specific crash that has happened 4 times in a row now and was wondering if you could possibly help.
Its after Rick fixes the lift and says "Our fearless leader? Fine let's move out"
Once the elevator goes down , the game just closes itself.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I'm running rebirth.

I have seen this in an old TAS. Problem is you cant grab the red herb for a full heal so it's a gamble. I guess if you want to play it safe but take this route , best option would be to revert back to old strats and pick up the FAS in the roulette casino room.
I never noticed this before until you pointed this out. Although i'd rather take the slightly longer load time than those god damned hunters.
ReavzAU - The point in this is to make it fair for all runners in the game without people cheating or manipulating the game. If all runners use the same emulator , then all is fair. That is the point we are trying to make.
Ok so are we all in agreement on the use of PSXfin? I would take it to a vote but I think the majority of runners here are in favour of psxjin.
Ok so it seems like almost every runner for this game uses emulator which is fine. However I have a thought: I have a few people asking me about the game and wanting to start running it. I mainly get asked the question of which emulator I use.
I've also noticed that other games on SR for emulated runs carry a strict rule. ONE emulator for EVERYONE.
Perhaps its time to discuss / vote which emulator we should use for future runs to keep things fair. For instance some people use psxfin and some other people use epsxe. I have no idea of the time differences here but maybe we should all come to an agreement on which emulator and version to use to avoid confusion.
I've been trying to manipulate them for a while now and I can't find a 100% consistent way of doing so. What i normally do is when one is in front of you , just veer to the left or right and make a zig zag motion. I know it sounds weird but this has been this has worked for me on numerous occasions.
But as for solid strats , i'm afraid they are just a pain in the ass :(
Fist , doesn't the media player trick just make the game run at 60hz?

Downloaded the patch and upon Ada meeting Annette in the sewers , I got a pop up saying "CreateSoundBufferError"
This has happened before but never this early in the game. After that it came up 30 seconds later so I just rage quit the game.
I dunno.
Ok cheers dude. Will have to try and figure out how to uninstall , what with all the japanese characters and what not.
Might be something to do for another day.
If all fails , i'm just gonna buy a NTSC PSX and get a PAL to NTSC converter and speedrun on that. I feel like all I do is watch peoples streams and videos and i'm not getting ANY runs in myself.
Just tried another run and yet again was screwed up by the sound. My recording only went up until you come out the MO Disk room and you talk to Annette. The sound went and unknown to me till after the run my recording had bloody stopped!
I got a message from the bottom right hand of the screen saying - "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows XP (R) stopped responding and has succesfully recovered."
What??
I'm having the same problem with sound cutting out.
Checked DChaps post about going through REGEDIT and went to change the sound but apparently it's already set to 44100hz.
Should I bring it down a bit more?
