We have in the Skipper and Skeeto community for some time had some discussions about what's allowed when speedrunning one of the games.

The thing is that it's possible to skip some of the dialogs (and thus save a lot of time) in the game if you run it in two windows (simply by opening the game twice), start the game in one of the windows, save it and then continue in the other window by loading the game. It's maybe a bit simplified, but the main point is that you need two windows of the game in order to do this.

Now to my question: Do any of you know any other games that have had similar cases? It would be nice to be able to get inspired by rules (and maybe category names) of other games that has experienced something similar.

During a stream of the game we got to speak about when the timing is supposed to stop. Currently the rules state "... as soon as you click on the escape pod (last action in the game)", but both the 2nd and 3rd best (non-obsolete) run (by webfischi and JulianRikku) don't finish it until they enter the escape pod.

Personally I think it makes most sense to finish the timing when they enter the escape pod as we might in the future find a way to get to it quicker - and thus the animation between clicking and entering might make a difference. Furthermore it can be hard to tell when the speedrunner clicked the capsule (even though it's quite clear in most cases).

In that case the rules should just be changed to "... as soon as they enter the escape pod".

It's a minor thing, but would be nice to figure it out so the timings can be streamlined :)

Just as an information I've made a thread in the series page about if we should align the URLs a bit: https://www.speedrun.com/skipper_and_skeeto/thread/f8b03

Hi everyone.

We now have a page for the four first games and a series page - that's awesome!

But I was thinking that it maybe made sense to align the URLs of the games and the series page. Right now we have these five URLs: https://speedrun.com/skipper_and_skeeto https://speedrun.com/skipper1 https://speedrun.com/skipper2 https://speedrun.com/skipper_and_skeeto_3_the_revenge_of_mr._shade https://speedrun.com/skipper4

Usually I think it's recommended to have longer (describing) urls if seard engines should understand them better. But I think that the norm for speedrun.com is that they are as short as possible (check out the top-games: https://www.speedrun.com/games).

Considering that, "skipperX" would be an okay solution. Only issue would probably be for the series page ("skipper") since there's a user by that name. The user has however no runs/posts and it's a year since last login - so maybe we could request that url. I personally think it's a shame that "skeeto" isn't a part of the name.

The shortest by far would be "ssX". But that unfortunately wouldn't work for "ss" and "ss2" since it's taken up by other games. Same applies for "sas", "sas3" and "sas4".

Then there's for instance "sandsX". But that also sounds a bit wierd?

"s_sX" or "s-sX" could also be an option, as long as it's not confused with "ss".

In the end "skipper_and_skeetoX" is a bit long, but at least it tells what game it's about?

And just as a final thought, only issue about changing urls would be everyone refering to the old URLs. But I think that's a risk we should take, if we agree on something it hopefully aren't changed again.

Let me know what you think. If we agree on something I hope Tiltustratel and JulianRikku will change #2 and #3.

Thanks in advance :) Anders

Hi :)

I think the release year of this game is 1998. I know Wikipedia states that it's 2000, but bibliotek.dk (that is the official page for all Danish libraries) states that there was a release i 1998. See here: https://bibliotek.dk/linkme.php?rec.id=870970-basis%3A22296213

Currenly I've set S&S4 to have been released in 2000, but that has to be changed to 1999 - I just did it like this now since there otherwise was a wrong sorting the series page.

Thanks in advance.

Hi :)

It would be nice if it was possible to enter alternative game titles in the games page or add them somewhere else (like in a description).

The reason for this request is a game (series) here on the site that currently have the English title, but titles in other languages doesn't look like it at all. And in my case I had never heard the English title before I randomly found it via another site. The games are orignally Danish, so I think most people know the Danish title - but it makes more sense to have it in English as a common ground.

I've now added a new game to the series, but it doesn't look like it's possible to add the localized title in any way. I think that would be a great addition so everyone can find the games they are searching for.

Furthermore the game-covers also vary, so would be neat to be able to upload some more (like it seems like it's possible for Japanese). That's however a minor thing, the other I would prefer a lot more.

To underline what I mean by the various localizations/translations: English, Czech, Dutch: Skipper and Skeeto Danishn, Norwegian: Magnus og Myggen Swedish: Magnus och Myggan French: Max & Moustique Spanish:Topi y Teo German: Max und Mario (or Skipper & Skito)

I know for sure the English and Scandinavian names, the rest I've found via Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skipper_%26_Skeeto

Best regards Anders

Hi.

I just got a new game approved and added my own run, but in the category it still states "There are no runs.". I can find the run in various places, e.g. in the stats-page (by clicking on "Most recent run"), but it's no where to be found in the main-page of the game. Have I set up anything wrong?

I've known this game since I was a little kid and recently tried it again - and I enjoy it so much!

Now that I'm older, I started thinking it would be fun to see how fast I could complete it, and luckily I stumpled upon this page. It was fun watching how fast it could be done - and I still think about doing it myself.

I was however a bit confused when I watched the speedrun by at least Tiltustratel - since there was a maze that for some reason is not i my (Danish) version of the game. When some versions enters the maze mine simply skip directly to the "Final hit". I think it might be because mine is a newer version of the game, but I'm not sure. I do however remember the maze a bit from back when I was a kid (I'm however not sure if it was the same exact CD as I'm using now - if it is, it might be some config?).

Furthermore I think it might be worth considering if it possible to figure out the difference between the Danish version and the English version - one of them should in theory be faster to complete since the sound-pieces simply are shorter.

But it's really cool you guys have been speedrunning this awesome game!
