Hi everyone.

We now have a page for the four first games and a series page - that's awesome!

But I was thinking that it maybe made sense to align the URLs of the games and the series page. Right now we have these five URLs:
https://speedrun.com/skipper_and_skeeto
https://speedrun.com/skipper1
https://speedrun.com/skipper2
https://speedrun.com/skipper_and_skeeto_3_the_revenge_of_mr._shade
https://speedrun.com/skipper4

Usually I think it's recommended to have longer (describing) urls if seard engines should understand them better. But I think that the norm for speedrun.com is that they are as short as possible (check out the top-games: https://www.speedrun.com/games).

Considering that, "skipperX" would be an okay solution. Only issue would probably be for the series page ("skipper") since there's a user by that name. The user has however no runs/posts and it's a year since last login - so maybe we could request that url. I personally think it's a shame that "skeeto" isn't a part of the name.

The shortest by far would be "ssX". But that unfortunately wouldn't work for "ss" and "ss2" since it's taken up by other games. Same applies for "sas", "sas3" and "sas4".

Then there's for instance "sandsX". But that also sounds a bit wierd?

"s_sX" or "s-sX" could also be an option, as long as it's not confused with "ss".

In the end "skipper_and_skeetoX" is a bit long, but at least it tells what game it's about?

And just as a final thought, only issue about changing urls would be everyone refering to the old URLs. But I think that's a risk we should take, if we agree on something it hopefully aren't changed again.

Let me know what you think. If we agree on something I hope Tiltustratel and JulianRikku will change #2 and #3.

Thanks in advance 🙂
Anders

That's always the question, should it be short, so you can remember the URL or make it long, so that it only makes sense if you know the english translation. Just as a reminder, it is called different in almost every language it was released.

Why not use S&S or is this also already taken? It looks better than a dash or an underscore.

Yup. And a good point that it is called something different. Regarding that (a bit offtopic), I also requested that it was possible to list alternative names: https://www.speedrun.com/the_site/thread/411to

Agree with the S&S, thought about it too. But at least if I go to https://www.speedrun.com/s&s it ignores "&s" (probably because of standard URL rules) and you see the page for the user "s". So I'm not sure it would be possible?

But the multi-language also got me thinking, maybe use "ss" from some of the titles and "mm" from most others. According to Wikipedia the only exception would be Spanish "tt". But considering the other too, it could be "ssmmX". But maybe that's a bit "random" too since it's a weird mixup?

Of course it doesn't work with the URL, it seems like you need to use %26 for &

Exactly - and that isn't that pretty either, then it could just as well be %20.

Another random thought, could also be "skskX"? I think that could work 🙂

Yep sksk is free, but near impossible to pronounce 😂 what about skaskX that we have at least one vowel.

That's true 😛 skask is possible to pronounce - but it's probably a bit confusing what the 'a' is? (However not more confusing that for instance ssmm :P)

Would "skipperskeetoX" be too long?

In the end only the 3rd game didn't follow the "skipperX" patter so I just altered that one. I also like that pattern since it's easy to remember and at least in the danish games that's actually what the game-folder is called (at least for the old games) - e.g. "magnus1".

I tried finding all pages referencing the longer URL (by Googling it) and I think there won't be issues about changing it. It however also seems like the old URL is still works, but don't know if that will be permanent?

So now the 3rd game has this URL: https://speedrun.com/skipper3
