Updated the timing start in the category rules. :**)

@Commet I guess you mean you would like it as a separate category? I assume that you can already submit DS runs to the GBA leaderboard, as it is the same game (the 'GBA' is in there to distinguish it from the PC and PS2 games, which are completely different games).

Can it really be called an occurrence of the Mandela Effect if your false memory is not shared by other people? I would say not.

I see that Time Trial categories were recently added. What is the idea of this? Only Famous' runs have been added so far, which gives the idea that he is the only one who has submitted time trial times, which is obviously not true. https://forum.re-volt.io/viewforum.php?f=22

Turns out it was correct that I was sceptical about this.
@everyone A word from the speedrunning community of Re-Volt, courtesy of @DVark09:

We now have an autosplitter, which removes all the time spent loading the game during runs. This allows every run to be treated equally, ranking everything solely by in-game time. All entries on the leaderboards have been retimed without the loading times to ensure the same level of fairness.

Please note that to be able to make use of the autosplitter, you must use RVGL 19.0430a. This may be subject to change in the future.
Having to use a specific version of a game to have the fastest possible time in a speedgame is totally fine. That can happen. Having to use a specific version of a game, combined with an unofficial tool, to be able to submit a run for a particular platform is not, I think (and if you don't think many people will agree about that we can create a thread about it on the public forum). Note I said particular platform, as of course if you're playing on Playstation, N64 or Dreamcast, you can't possibly use the autosplitter. You can't turn on instance models on PSX and N64 either, if I recall correctly. But that is maybe not a big deal right now, as there are no runners on these platformers. However, you have to keep them in mind, as maybe one of these changes will make another platformer the fastest to run on. Anyway, even if there was only a pc version, I think this is not an acceptable, or at least not desirable, approach. Especially because new versions of RVGL are still coming out, and I'm sure new improvements will be made. It is logical for people to want to play on the latest version, and while of course they will likely have a separate installation for speedrunning anyway, this just feels like too big a decision to make.

Maybe it's not so bad as I think. Maybe others don't mind. But I wanted to raise my doubts a bit more loudly than before. ;)

I am in favour of these changes! I do think it would be desirable if the auto-splitter wasn't mandatory for submitting runs, in case someone cannot or doesn't want to use it.

Hm, I like the idea of a custom car championship, but I'm unsure about the limitations. I think the limitations might make it more fun, as it will prevent extremely fast cars from having an advantage, and extremely fast cars can be a pain to use. However, to many people they are also fun: refer to the All's Fair events. What I'd like to warn against is that you will not be able to be competitive with cars not made specifically for this category. To get a 'good time', someone will need to make a car for all four speed limits and upload them to RVZ. For this I would like to refer to another event for which somebody created a car named something like 'Flawed System', but I cannot find the car in question on RVZ. Still, it might be fun. :)

Huh, interesting! I enjoy splitting though, so I feel like it shouldn't be necessary. 🤔

You could compare the parameters (not all cars have intuitive folder names, though, so you might have to check a few). Actual performance depends on the person driving the car, of course.

I've looked more into the game, and noticed that the different difficulties are indeed quite different. I wondered at the short times set for the game, but I see that it is way shorter on Easy mode! I am intending on running the Hard mode myself, but might also want to do some runs in Easy and Normal, as each has a very different route through the levels (at least in the case of the levels where you play as Bob). So I think it'd be good to make each its own category. :)

Hello, I wonder why there are no different categories or at least variables for the difficulty setting? :)

I wouldn't expect a game to appear on speedrun.com before it gets released. But I could be surprised.

If you set cycles to max, it won't be the same between systems, as some pc's are simply faster than others. If you wanted it to be fair you'd probably need to set a fixed number of cycles (probably the lowest round number for which the game doesn't lag), but that is a bit arbitrary and as such not preferred by everyone.

I don't get what you mean. There are times for custom tracks on RVR, yes, but there are also times for the stock tracks on there. I meant 'moderators', indeed. Best time trial times are on the forum. https://forum.re-volt.io/viewforum.php?f=22

I don't think this would work. Quoting myself from another thread:
It would take a while for mods to add all relevant runs from RVR, and if that wouldn't be done, there would be very little competition, as I'm sure most people wouldn't bother submitting their times here.
I disagree. It would take a while for mods to add all relevant runs from RVR, and if that wouldn't be done, there would be very little competition, as I'm sure most people wouldn't bother submitting their times here. That's as far as races are concerned. Time trials are recently managed here: http://forum.re-volt.io/viewforum.php?f=22 These include the times from prior websites as well.
Just make sure to double check the rules for the game, if in doubt ask one of the games moderators.
The games don't have rules yet. I'd advise testing various cycle settings (3000, 6000, 40000, max), and see what the differences are. If there are any (there probably will be), choose what you think would be best and specify that in the rules.

I found something, but haven't worked it out yet.

I think I adressed all three issues! I am interested by the cheat mode.
