Hey everybody! So I have been interested in speedrunning Undertale for quite awhile now. I have been practicing the game for about a month and have been thinking about actually trying to beat some times 🙂 I usually stay away from a lot of communities because to be honest most of the time a lot of them are not very friendly or inviting to new players. When I watched the Games Done Quick run however by TGH I quickly changed my mind. Everyone seemed so nice and helpful and really inviting to new runners of the game which is amazing. So I decided to finally stop by and say hello, and to say watch out for your times!( I would not worry if I was you though, I am not that good:P )

Also, shoutout to Rhombu! Your written guide has really been helping me out and is amazing, if anyone else is looking to find a start with the game check his guide out, it's simply awesome!

Also Also, just a quick question, how do you guys manage to record the game and the timer? For me I cannot see the timer when fullscreen and playing windowed is so small and annoying, am I missing something?

I would talk to xandertje10, he's the only person who I know who plays in fullscreen. Otherwise, welcome to the community! We hope you enjoy the categories, and more importantly, the community.

Many of us actually don't play in fullscreen so we have plenty of space for the game and the timer. We just got used to how small it is over time. Don't worry too much about troubles recording your timer and game at the same time, we can always just retime it later. Good luck on your runs!

To answer your question, I'm not sure of any way to record while playing full screen. But, you do get used to the screen size after a while. Best of luck, and again, welcome to the community!

Glad to see new runners here. I think if you play full screen you could put your timer on the blackbars but that is probably not optimal

Yeah, two monitors is really the only way to record it fullscreen. Most of us use windowed mode. It's been said, but you'll want to talk to xandertje10 about how to set it up properly, since he's the only known runner who does it like that.

As some people here have already said, i play the game in fullscreen too.
I'm not sure if you're asking how to record livesplit and thr game or just how to have them both visible, so i'll answer both.
To record both, you can use OBS. I think i use window capture for both livesplit and the game.
To have both on screen and play in fullscreen you'll have to use 2 monitors

Also thanks for the tip xander, got it to work 🙂 And with pure luck on my second ever try recording with that setup, I got a time I am super happy with in the hard mode category, so it looks like I will be submitting my first run 🙂
