Speedrunning Tux Racer - What you need to know
Updated 7 years ago by InstaSim

When you speedrun Tux Racer, make sure you have video proof of the run. Streaming the run is also fine and one of our moderators may even watch the run live. Once you have finished your run, you will need to submit it using your video proof, highlighting the stream and uploading the video to YouTube is highly recommended, however highlighting the stream on Twitch is another option. Make sure to highlight the stream or Twitch will eventually remove the video proof for future viewing. You do not have to livestream speedruns, you can also record it directly and upload the video to YouTube and use that as proof. You do NOT require a facecam or commentary, though we do recommend them. Using LiveSplit is also recommended when speedrunning, though you do not have to (verifying runs will just take longer). If LiveSplit is not used, make sure to use an external timer. DO NOT JUST ADD THE TIMES YOU HAD IN GAME AS THE TIMER STILL CARRIES ON DURING THE SELECTION OF THE NEXT MAPS. If LiveSplit is not used in your video, a moderator will use LiveSplit or another external timer to verify the time on the run. If the timing by the moderator is different, it will be changed. You can also take advantage of the LiveSplit splits available to download in the Resources section of the leaderboard. Level leaderboards may use the In-Game Timer as it starts and ends more accurately. Make sure to download the correct version of the game (available in the resources section). Do not upload Extreme Tux Racer runs on this leaderboard, that is a separate game with a separate leaderboard. When submitting your run, make sure everything is as accurate as possible. Do not submit runs for other people. You must make sure the run is solely your own and that nobody else has run the game for you. Illegitimate runs will be denied. Region is not required but you can put one in if you wish. Make sure the video link is correct and that the video is either PUBLIC or UNLISTED otherwise we can't see it and you will be denied. Splits i/o and Comments are not required, though we like to see comments by people on how well the run has gone :) Verification will take approximately 24-48 hours, though they can take longer or shorter depending on the content of the video. Only submit your run ONCE and wait for verification by a moderator. Multiple submissions of the same run will ALL be denied.

--After Verification-- If your run is AWAITING - Please wait for a moderator to verify your run. This could take up to 48 hours, just be patient, all runs will be verified and we do not prioritize runs. If your run is DENIED - Unfortunately, your run has not followed the criteria. The moderator that denied the run will let you know why it was denied. You can run again and re-submit but do NOT re-submit the run that was denied. If your run is APPROVED - Congratulations, your run is now on the leaderboard for everyone to see. You do not need to do anything else. You can run the game again and re-submit if you had a better time, but do NOT re-submit the run already on the leaderboard.

1.1 runs now allowed

Runs of the commercial, closed source "1.1" version of the game are now allowed.

This version of the game has entirely different levels and should honestly have its own leaderboard, but the speedrun.com moderators told me to contact the moderator of this board to get clearance on whether the 1.1
