Why does 20 star end after key 1?

It's very possible to beat the whole game with 20stars so why is it like this

Would be a lot more fun to beat the game with 20 stars

Because 20 stars is the minimum required to enter the first boss stage without door clipping and there's no MIPS so there's no BLJing. 20 star is more of a race file since the category is so short. 16 star used to be a full any% run of mario 64 and that's why it still exists when 0 and 1 star exist.

There isn't an incredibly great reason to my knowledge, but banning 20 star door clip but not BLJs is so arbitrary considering the complexity of each respectively, that I figure it came about as a category extension just to practice overworld 1 more than anything.

BLJs aren't used in 20 star, at least not in world record. Just an arbitrary door clip that saves a tiny bit of time if done right. There isn't much room in 20 star to BLJ anywhere and save real time with it.

I'm aware. My point is that a 20 star run that goes to the final bowser would allow BLJs and ban "jumping at a door" which is too arbitrary for a fullgame category.

I was not referring to jumping into a door, I was referring to the door clip that Dackage did to get into Gloomy Garden.

the history is that on speedrunslive simpleflips created a race category for 20 stars, which was to help him learn/practice 80 stars speedruns, people liked it enough to keep running it and keep it as a category
