I’m eating through cheap Miadore USB controllers for my 16 star speedruns.

Are there any recommendations for a controller that can actually last more than 3 months of constant BLJs?

The recommendation you will probably get from most people (which is also my recommendation) is to use an OEM N64 controller with a Raphnet N64 > USB adapter if you are playing on EMU. I've also heard that Retrobits are okay controllers.

I don't know anything about Miadore controllers or their quality. If wear and tear is your problem, you might have the same issue even with better controllers. Is it the stick that's wearing out? The buttons? Either way, it depends on how rough you are with the controller. Although BLJs can be spam intensive, they don't have to be if you learn the correct timing. You don't have to jam your stick back super hard or mash the crap out of your jump button. This video may be helpful for getting successful BLJs without destroying your controller:

This also helps and is apparently the ideal timing:

I have used the retrobit tribute 64 controller and would not reccomend it. The A button started sticking after about 3 months of 70 star practice, making the controller very hard to use. I don't think that the buttons would hold up well when doing BLJs. The stick itself held up just fine however.

I had the same problem with the tribute, so I agree with Stanch

Had the same problem of the two people above. However although isn't ideal, you can actually kind of fix the a button in tribute if you disarm the controller and apply some kind of resistance between the hole where the button is located in the membrane. One of disadvantages of doing so is that the button will get more smoshy than usual, (but at least it should stop getting stucked).

-Sorry for bad english

I agree with the three above. the tribute buttons are less than ideal. you want a good controller for a mashing? if on EMU, get a Dualshock 4, Xbox controller, or switch pro. if on console, simple. use the original OEM controller, hori pad, etc. OEM controllers refurbished are around 20-30 bucks. pair that with the hyperkin adapter for around 10 bucks, and you got yourself a comperable setup to an n64.

Apianbelle, you dont have to use A DS4 controller. You can use any modern controller(XBox one, Switch pro) if you are using emu. I use an XBOX one controller and it works fine.
