I'm just asking for emulator, I use an xbox controller but i'm not sure if we have to use an n64 controller, are there any rules on what controller you have to use (For Emulator)

there are no rules against 3rd party controllers

i use a dualshock 2, but anything that fits you should work

lol, no you do NOT want to buy a retrolink n64 controller, this controller has one of the worst sticks imaginable. some emu players use xbox 360 controllers, but the only really good choice is an original n64 controller or hori mini pad controller with a raphnet adapter for minimum input delay. you can also use the cheaper mayflash adapter if you're starting out i guess, but raphnet is the way to go. there are no rules for what to use.

if you do not want to make investments i'd stay stick with the xbox controller.
