Recently, competition in a few categories has sparked up, and records are being put into question (CNK, Crash 2 etc.), so I wanna ask you guys whether or not you'd be up for re-timing PB's for some games. Also it would be good to know which games you guys want to see without loads.
CNK's the only one I can think of that "needs" load time removal whenever other versions (non-PAL PS2) have runs of. Other communities I can't even speak for. B)
I like the idea of removing loads as a comparison for runs, however I don't think they should be the main leaderboard for that game, but there as a comparison for all the runners. (maybe a new category?) Having the option for people to remove loads from their own runs to see how it stacks up seems fair, as long as people don't abuse it, and people don't claim their SDS run is better therefore should be WR (etc.) Definitely should be for games like CNK with console variants where load times are severely different, but PS1 games should be more for comparison, if anything it's for competition too.
You can already sort runs by loads/loadless on the pages where it's implemented (CNK, TWoC), so I don't see how it's warranting a new category.
It's also why we don't have seperate categories for PAL/NTSC.
I kinda posted this before checking the CNK/TWoC boards, but the comparison layout does look pretty good actually
And thankyou Peter, I try my hardest
You can easily (not that easy actually) get a pretty damn accurate time as to how long a Crash 1-3 level takes to load (initially).
I am just curious if mid-level loads (aka Un-Bearable secret route and bonus) should be included, because getting an accurate time on those is tough.
There isn't a huge demand to have this information, as far as I'm aware. If anyone does time differences then go ahead and share it on here, but it's time consuming (geddit) for someone to just do for another's sake
Yeah, that's kind of obvious.
Load times in Crash 1-3 aren't actually 100% consistent for each level too, it depends if a texture chunk is loaded already or not (this isn't the case with some levels because they use very little texture chunks).
