Basketball Court Zombies just luck?

Hi all,

I've been working my way through each scenario going for a sub - 1 time and am on Claire A at the moment. For the life of me I can't get any consistency with the Basket ball court, gate breaking zombies.

The best I can get so far is outright charging the first guy and tanking the hit and moving around the other two.

Sometimes the third zombie in the rear will catch me with a second it.

Only once have I gotten through it without damage and that's by shooting the legs of the first, waiting for the knock back and pushing through - which is slower and isn't consistent

There doesn't seem to be much consistency other than charging the first hit. The quickest times on the leader board seem to be able to run through the gate without getting grabbed at all. But I'm wondering if this is just very good luck and we just done see the failed runs they don't post.

I suspect this can be related to how fast you run from the Gunshop door, turn around when they break the gate, and then reaching the court.

For a sub 1 hour aim (not wanting to compete), could I get yer opinions on whether I should take the consistent hit or is there a way to consistently avoid them.

The issue with taking the hit is that it gives me less room down the line if I get bad luck with other dodges meaning a heal might be required.

Anyway, first time poster here and long time enjoyer of speed running. Any feedback is appreciated :)

You can actually get this dodge with Leon, but it only works on the US or arrange mode on JP under certain circumstances. You need a delayed gate crash and the green shirt zombie to be hitting the gate. Nurmat did a video on it showing it can be done, but it's not worth the time and effort considering you have to be playing a specific version or game mode (arrange lacks auto aim).

If you don't mind resetting at the basketball court to get the no damage clear, then by all means continue to go for it, but I would suggest taking the hit there regardless. Even for sub 50 runs you're not required to get it since you don't gain a lot of time off it alone, so it's best left for WR attempts where every bit of time matters. It's definitely nice to have the extra health to tank any damage that would normally bring you to caution, however, the possibility of taking damage is always going to be existent. I took a huge chunk of time loss in my PB run that put me in caution and was still able to get the time I wanted. A heal won't hurt your chances of getting a sub hour run :)

Thanks for the replies both! I'm going to play around with it a little more to tighten the turn into the gate, but if I'm not getting it consistently then I'll commit to tanking the hit, if I get through unharmed then I'll consider it a bonus.

There are other dodges that I can practice which are a bit more manageable/consistent and a I'm starting to think you're right about it probably not being a barrier to sub 60 min. Got 62 min due to excessive healing in pb and some mistakes. So I'll start to work on damage avoidance in other parts of RPD

Thanks again for the feedback!

Most of the time, taking the hit during Leon A is the most consistent way of getting through that gate.

As the others mentioned, during the WR attempt is when you are looking for the RNG of a green/brown shirt zombie to be hitting the gate. A quick shot aiming down almost guarantees a stun on the front zombie, pushing the second behind it into a stun as well. The third zombie in the court itself should be far back enough where you can run by and make a sharp left when you enter the gate not to be hit.
