Hello, I just wanted to clarify what process actually occurs during validation of a run that's submitted to the leaderboards? Just a matter of curiosity as I submitted a 52:21 run the other day which I accidentally flagged as 52 hours 21 mins rather than 52 mins 21 seconds. At no point during the validation process was this questioned, and the run wasn't refused, it was accepted as an obsolete run despite the video evidence provided being an order of magnitude away from what was submitted.
While I realise that the run itself is largely irrelevant as it was far down the leaderboard and is a run that I've since beaten already, it was my PB at the time which forced me into a resubmission, and it does lead me to question the integrity of the validation process if an obvious inconsistency like this hasn't been identified as part of the process.
I will say that the community is amazing and so supportive, and the resources to assist in speedrunning are so useful - I wouldn't have achieved the time I have without them. But just wanted to question this as it feels like something this obvious should have been addressed during validation of the run. Thanks :)
Since the run was obsolete anyway that means it never appeared on the leaderboard, personally i would just hit verify without even checking an obsolete run and it seems that's what happened with your run.
Runs that appear on the leaderboard are taken more seriously, regardless of rank #
Thanks Steven, I appreciate you taking the time to respond to me. I guess the actual evidence supporting the run just wasn't weighed up against the submission itself. I appreciate that I should have taken more care and attention when submitting, but a little heads up of "hey, you submitted a 52 hour run, was this supposed to be 52 minutes?" would have been appreciated. You've also not really addressed my initial query of what validation process takes place when a run will be listed on the leaderboards.
Realistically, somebody with a 54:33 PB wouldn't upload a 52 hour run anyway unless they were aiming for world's slowest speedrun, so it just struck me as odd that it wasn't queried. It didn't cause me a massive inconvenience because I can obviously just resubmit, but still. Thanks anyway for getting back to me :)
It's not that deep mate, just resubmit the run. I accepted it because I am a moderator and that is the time you submitted. I look at many runs daily and with the greatest of respects isn't my responsibility to edit your run. I am here to validate or reject a run, which I did. I verified it and it caused it to be obsolete. Just delete the old run and re-submit it. It's a 1 minute process.
And also with the greatest of respects, a runner called PetrovBogdan submitted a RickRoll style video with a time of 2h 07 39s and I assumed you was having some light hearted banter. Hence why I verified the run. So please don't sit and question the legitimacy of the verification process as I take my role seriously and with the greatest of respects.
