Riche is gone, Chambers is gone, Butz is gone... who is next?

Reaching out to Butz on Discord, could take a few hours til we hear from him. His SRC profile states he's no longer mod on this game either. Not sure if this was an accident or a glitch. I nominated spyriel to take over, hopefully we'll know more soon

If Butz really is gone... well first off that REALLY sucks and second, well I don't think we really have anyone else to mod this (great!) game afaik

Honestly though? I wouldn't mind taking one of the spots for moderation, since I'm very familiar with the game and its speedrun, and I'm logging in very often on this website as well ^^
But regardless, I hope we'll find someone new soon ;-;

spyriel is the only name in the top that I trust as an active runner and potential moderator, he's also already knowledged in framecounting and moderates other games. Chambers and Richie, even kozzx I believe: unfortunately have already made it clear that they do not want the position no longer. And most of the others frankly are lacking the english required for the position. No offense to you at all Oli, im just not personally familiar with you as a runner yet.

That being said: We still don't know Butz' situation and why we're in this place to begin with yet, only SRC staff can check the audit log at this point to verify what happened.

But yeah we should def. know for sure about what happened to Butz, just to make sure we actually need a new mod in the first place

Got word from Butz, he is officially retiring.

In general, he left at the very moment when I added two runs in two minor categories. In the description, I left him a message so that he would remove his run from Any% Expert, since he did not legit (he used PAL Rom on the NTSC frequency).
Either he left because of his mistake, or he was just tired - do not blame him.

While we shouldn't really go off-topic, I think his WR on Expert is still legitimate, since the framerate and game speed of his run seems to perfectly match the vanilla NTSC version of the game. And besides, as far as I know, there's no regional differences between the PAL and US release of Power Blade ^^

And I mean, if anything, he should know better than anyone what's legit and not legit to update to the leaderboards, no? ^^

I trust Butz a whole hell of alot more than I do you timmy, given your recent outburst regarding clips in glitchless. I advice you not to throw any stones aimed at anyone. This thread isn't about tarnishing the good name of Butz whom did an excellent job during his time here. And went above and beyond in dealing with the idiocy that was you in that locked thread. Let's just focus on getting the community together rather than accusing former mods of anything.

Technically, and this is even noticeable not only in music, the game accelerates.
No one forbids running the PAL version on the PAL frequency, but here is another case.

Actually, I noticed that in Stage 2 - to give one example - The speed at which the huge red mechas explode is the exact same as in the NTSC version, and the same applies to the 60 invicibility frames Nova gets whenever he gets hit. Finally, the speed of his walking/running animation (which is of about 15 frames per sprites, of 4 sprites per second if that makes sense ) is at the very least extremely similar to the USA version, too ^^

I understand why this run would be suspicious to some - and honestly, I was suspicious at first too a few months ago! - but I am convinced it runs at the same speed as any NTSC cart

Anyway @xenkaroshixenkaroshi is right, let's just drop this and try to rebuild this mod community, yeah?

At the moment, I just indicated the possible reasons for his departure, I have no reason to offend anyone. Do not get personal, I objectively pointed out that the PAL version of the game on the NTSC frequency is no legit.

Thing is that i can accept to be mod only if we get another one aswell. I dont want to be only mod in the board. maby k0zzx or pika?

@spyrielspyriel Then I would suggest once you hopefully accept the seat of super mod in the near future. You may as well give OliKad a chance to prove himself as well. He has at the very least proven to be fairly outspoken within the community and is showing interest and care from what I can tell. I'd be happy to help out if needed, I certainly will however not advocate SRC staff to mod me as of today since I do not yet have a run up for this game yet. Do not fret however, with everything that's going down at the moment, I will move Power Blade learning up on my schedule and legitimately join that position in the future, if you would have me.

I won't lie, I would LOVE to contribute to the NES/retro speedrunning community in general, since it's been so kind and encouraging to me in the last year or so since I joined it
Though I should probably get a run on the Normal category of this game as well now that I think about it ;-;
