What's going on with formatting? I carefully formatted posts for my community and most of it is broken now. Every formatting guide on the side is outdated, every major post I've made in the past has broken tags everywhere. We can't center text anymore? Are we using markdown? Point me to documentation or a resource please.

the change to having a user-interface version having also broken damn near every post using the old formatting is really poor, I haven't seen a space where it was being brought up prior to now, but because the current edition is also missing old formatting features, as well as having no code to rectify old 'manual' address formatting, I agree it's made a lot of old resources and posts shoddy at best and unusable/unreadable at worst.

I actually don't know if it's on markdown (tests manually doesn't seem like it) and hopefully someone better at interpreting the api responds, or there's an old discussion on the Discord to be found.

Yeah exactly it's not as if the interface makes it worse, it just doesn't automatically place the old procedures (different backend or not). There may be other reasons why they can't adapt the site to read old posts but then it's a strange annoyance that they would bother switching to make the interface.

Do staff read these boards? Or someone point me to a formatting guide? I can wait. Not waiting forever tho

Who are the admins of the site rn do we even know? I'm not being facetious

I can give a brief explanation here, and thanks for pointing out that our resources are lacking in this area - I'll make sure to add some details into our Help section.

The new formatting is custom and inspired by Markdown. It still needs some tweaks, so any feedback is absolutely appreciated (and we already have some to implement in the future)

But here's the jist of it:

• Everything the current formatting is just in the header of any text box on the site now, as shown below:

• If you hover over each button, it will explain its function.
• In addition to the main buttons on the toolbar, if you look all the way over to the right, next to the pencil icon, you'll find the "raw" view in which you can see exactly what the formatting looks like in the background - if you'd like you can use this to type in any formatting instead.

Feedback #2, I'm very unhappy with you (the site) removing formatting support for tags (and not providing a replacement) that my community has been using for 6+ years. We had the functionality for 5+ years, now it's gone. No reason provided.

The missing components are a blow, but if it's not possible in the formatting version the site is using then could I ask that we please have a pinned post in The Site forum explaining what's no longer possible and that the current buttons cover the full extent of the formatting? That is, if the help pages aren't planned to include more info on the site; just following on from the ShadowDraft one, info and responses on there are no use anymore.

As far as why the formatting was “removed”, it technically wasn’t (although the result is the same, so I get it)

The site was completely re-written from scratch last year, and some small things were left behind due to the massive scope of the changes.
