As a console player I'm at a huge disadvantage when it comes to performing slope boosts. But I've found that when falling you can hold the thumb-stick back in the direction of the object you are falling off of and stick yourself against/into the edge. This will allow you to build as many jump inputs as you want and then release it. This trick has helped me perform major skips on maps like Exultia, the dev room on Mars Core, and the whole of Urdak. (There's also a new one I found on Nek 2). Of course it isn't as simple as I'm making it sound and it can't be done on every edge. Nor it is entirely consistent...
This method is really only important to console runners as it would be slower than anything PC currently has. I'm not necessarily taking credit for this either, just hoping to spread the word in case some console runners are looking for bigger stuff and more time save. It's also entirely possible PC already discovered this kind of thing and skipped over it for being too slow. O_O
Sorry for not having a clip sooner, hopefully this will help. The first few seconds in the menu are to help show that I am in fact on console with a controller. Good Luck!
The new patch that came out has more or less "fixed" slope boosting/ sticky jumps. If anyone knows of a way to downpatch on console (Xbox One) please let me know. Otherwise, unless they just wanted to scare the community, this is the end of the console any% run...
Theres no way to downpatch to my knowledge. The only way to have the slopeboost patch on console would be to have a physical copy of the game without this new patch. So if you go buy a physical copy today/soon and DIDNT update it, then you'd be golden
Yeah... I don't want to buy it again if possible but it may be all I've got. I'll think about it. Thanks
So I've caved and bought a physical copy, and it does indeed work. So I'm back. Looking forward to sub hour fairly soon
I have embraced the new 1.03 patch and am diligently finding no slopboost skips to speedrun the game with current tardas nabad, doom hunter base, and arc complex no slop boost skips. Super gore nest more or less hasn't changed. We as a console nation should not hinder progress and find the current patch skips it is how the console community will develop as its own category because let's face it, PC doesn't like console as a whole.
Recently a vote on the MDSR Discord has lead to the timing rules for Individual Levels and Master Levels being changed. In the upcoming week or so, we will be cleaning up the IL and ML leaderboards to match with the new timing rules, Old runs that do not comply with these rules or where the video su
