Hello there, i have a little question. I searched on the forum and on the rules but haven´t found any answer to my doubt. Is it OK to submit a run using some hints on the splits name? Like left, right, etc? Most of my splits have funny names but there is some specific parts of the game i haven´t memorized the route well enough yet, so it helps me run better along those parts. I supposed its OK because i saw other players using that kind of mechanism but its always better to clarify. Thanks for your time.

That is fine as long as the IGT is displayed through the whole run (assuming you're running on PC that is). However doing this will make the autosplitter not split unless you edit the autosplitter so that the names match your splits.

Thanks for the fast answer Raclesis. I am not sure what you meant but I have changed the segment name of the splits on "edit splits" a few days ago and its working normally. No other change was needed.

Oh okay. :) I'm not as experienced with autosplitters as some of the other mods so I thought you had to edit the autosplitter itself so that it matches the names you put in the splits. As long as it's showing the IGT you can name the splits what ever you want. I would keep the last split name the same though, that way it doesn't accidently end early by mistake (That's been happening lately and Shiido just made a hotfit for it in the autosplitter to fix the issue.)

Depending on the autosplitter you use :) If you use the new autosplitter (that is downloaded and used by Livesplit by default), you can name the splits whatever you want as long as you keep the names of the section-splits (Mansion 1, Laboratory - End, etc.). When using the old autosplitter you are right Rac. Then you have to rename every split in here as well as in your split files.

It´s funny that you say that Shiido because i changed the name of all the splits and it´s not affecting anything. Maybe it´s because i completed a couple of runs before changing, i don´t know, i´m new to speedrunning anyway. Btw i´m the guy who submitted a theta run, i was watching your stream the other day and someone started talking about theta runs, so i went to your past streams and i saw that my run was verified by you lol. It made me laugh. But i promise my next improved runs will be on youtube :)
