So I've been wondering, why GTA IV online co-op speedrunning isn't a meme yet? After seeing how GTA V Online speedruns became a thing, why not try this out too?
If you have anything to add or want to give an opinion on this – post here.
I don't know much about it, but I know that those gamemodes but here's what I found:
- Those gamemodes have an in-built timer.
- GTA IV has LAN, so it can be used instead of the hated GfWL, although if this is going to be a thing we should agree on a platform to use for LAN.
- There are some "proto-speedrunning" videos of those gamemodes on youtube:
- Deal Breaker:
- Hangman's NOOSE:
- Bomb Da Base II:
I knew nothing of the online in this game, seems like it could actually be pretty cool
A problem i can imagine is the LB limitation. It seems like you can have any amount of players. In that case we would need a seperate LB for 1, 2, 3,... players. And most of them would stay empty forever.
I feel it'd be best not to add a leader board for every last possible player count. If you must do these co-op missions, gather the optimal amount of players for the fastest possible time. I know for one that I wouldn't want to bother with anything but the optimal count so that I could compete for the fastest possible completion time.
Yeah, I completely agree with Kyle, in this case more players might actually mean slower time because higher fail rate so I don't think separate leaderboards are necessary, just get the fastest time, that's all
I've changed my mind, all players should be included on the leader board, even if some left the game in order to achieve a faster completion time. These players had a role in achieving the time. If we recognize the time as legitimate, and also recognize their participation, leaving them out seems ridiculous. It'd also be a real pain in the ass to get people to compete on the boards if they can't be included in the submission.
If enough people disagree with this "initial board rule", it will be changed.
