Rule sets and categories

Hello community that may or may not exist here. I just wanted to really get a discussion going on different categories. While any% is rather clear in what it is, would it be possible to have something like any% all missions? This would include the sorties that you can skip. Some people may prefer to run a category like this purely because it gives you that extra opportunity to get xp and equipment on your run.

Another category I would like to discuss is NG+ Any%. Would the character set have to be similar to that of a standard NG run or will it be the kind of run that you can prepare a full team of geared level 99 characters and make the run pure execution?

I'm also quite interested in speed running this game(beginner) and I'd like to say thank you for the run. Regarding your new game+ I believe we can try the prepared files as well I'm not sure how second and third runs totally work since I know you can get different scenes as well as best weapons.

I recently did a speedrun, but it was on PC. Is it possible for this archive to be updated to have pc speedruns?

so i did a LVL gltich on ps4 and my run was rejected cause of it. So im asking what dp u ppl think of the glitch and if it should be allowed in the ANY% run?

Florida, USA

Leveling glitch involves leaving the game and changing the clock on your hardware (console). So I can see and agree why this would be banned.

But if all 3 versions have the glitch and it only using its hardware that its played on should still make it opened game still am i wrong? Cause its not really out sourcing like u would be stating.

Also wouldnt that open to new ways to make the run faster ? and if not should we just make it its on category?

I see no reason it should not be allowed. If all consoles have access to it then it should be allowed. just my opinion though.

Speedrunning Glossary= Any% A run with no additional completion requirements; anything goes. The "default" category for speedrunning a game. The term comes from the old school Metroid speedrunning community. Metroid has a percentage counter, while other games may not, but the term stuck around. From SRL its self

True that is the definition of any%. But if you are going to run a game you would want to go by the rules set by that community.

Personally I don't see any huge benefits from this glitch. The stat gains are minimal. Only reason I see atm is the AP gains to learn abilities early. Another downside is it can only be done on 1 character at a time.

True but only 1 to 2 characters are really need for the run pls if there at the right lvl makes it easyer and faster to take down some bosss, on top of haveing the ablitites early could save some time (could) its still up in the air untill fully tested. On top of that u can chose to use it or not thats why theres no set right if u dont want to use it then dont the game is to new for running to know which is the best untill we miss around with it for some time. So banning something like this is just the start of banning new things that could be found, thats what its fells like. And like i said if that big of a deal give it its on category so we have a place to miss around with it.

after i talking to a head admin i was fanly given a good reason to bann it. of the save+quit feature PLUS that you have to change the date and time of your system. Also the PC version will have to go through admin rights to change the date and time of the pc. Having it on console and not on PC would be weird and make it inconsistent even if we have different categories for console and pc. Thats all i need was a good reason. Thank u Frokenok for asking the FF runners about it. Well its up to u guys if u want it to be its on category or just to leave it out all together?

So I have a slightly unrelated question. As of right now you're only splitting by platform and NG/NG+, but I'm wondering about the eventuality of someone doing a run on a different difficulty from cadet (I know at least a couple of people are thinking about NG Agito), seeing as times wouldn't really be comparable would it be split off, or would we just have to leave it all on the same leaderboard (which I think is un-representative for a game like this, and splitting the difficulty á la KH or P¤ games would fit better)

I think MLSTRM is on to something. I just finished a NG+ run and I have to say it is not all that amazing of a category. I was thinking of doing some Agito or Finis NG+ runs to add a little challenge and fun to it.

Yeah I agree.... NG+ Any% is just a run and shoot. Really nothing interesting in terms of execution or strategy imo. No need to wait for kill sites and all that.

It would be interesting to see it be done on Finis difficulty.

The best way to do it now is probably to use the sub-categories feature that the side added recently. (Info here http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/lac6h )

That way you can have like HD vs Original at top level, then NG vs NG+, and then have a third level on HD NG for difficulties if that makes sense. I'm fairly sure you can stack 3 levels like that, since they have about that many if not more in KH2.5.

I just noticed that the rules for all categories say: "Timed from accepting Cadet Difficulty to getting the last phantoma at the Final Boss" This is obviously not correct for Officer/Agito runs :P
