Hey!
Today I've decided to record a little yt vid to show my friend what basic portal speedrunning looked like (no crazy setups cough e01 turret glass break cough) and being the lazy guy I am I've just recorded it in challenge mode so as not to mess around with livesplit and obs. Now, I intended to use the double fling on the second flinging section (without going to the room on the left) but I managed to do it in a single fling. Is this "super jump" glitchless or inbounds?
It fits glitchless rules. Though I don't understand why you go to the spot through walking instead of just portalling.
Well, about 10 minutes after uploading this I've learned how to do the fling right after the lift and got a 31...Doidn't record, though. I've also learned how to do the ch. 14 skip from the elevator and some more consistent setups in the escape sequences. The last thing is to learn how to do the skip that makes all pistons stationary and with a good run I should be able to do a sub-20. My 24 was timed with pauses and was poorly optimized, so that shouldn't be an issue :P
"how to do the skip that makes all pistons stationary" it's trigger-based. Use showtriggers_toggle to see the triggers and to learn which triggers makes the piston moving. 31 is still high, though. Don't worry you will get sub 20 with enough practice.
It was recently discovered that it is possible to set your mouse sensitivity to a value so high that the game considers it infinite, leading to several new glitchy techniques being discovered.
The rules have now been amended to ban these new techniques in both Inbounds No SLA Legacy and Glitchless.
