Speed running OOT on GC - C buttons question
5 years ago

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I'm speedrunning OOT on Gamecube after moving from N64 and I'm having a lot of trouble with the c-stick, especially when trying to do Navi dives and go into first-person mode.

On the N64 these just involved a button press, but the stick is causing me a lot of issues as it's far too inaccurate.

I'm looking into other controllers, what's the best one to go for? I just want to have the c-buttons work as actual buttons again.

Thanks!

You should only be using the C-Stick for C up. The X, Y and Z buttons map to C Left, C Right and C Down respectively. Using the C stick for non-up directions is just awful as you’ve realized.

So there isn't a pad that has c-up as an actual button?

No, C Up is still done through the C stick.

Right, thanks.

One more question - doing a Navi dive with the c-stick. Once I've pressed B twice to do the slash and jumpslash, do I have to mash the C-Stick up, or do I just need to hold it up after pressing B the second time?

I can never figure out the proper way to do it.

It's just mashing the c up stick. While being an analog stick it maps to a digital press in game so holding it doesnt repeatedly press it.

Also for future questions I would advise joining our discord as not many people are active on these forums. Link in the resources section.

Muted Audio on Twitch Highlights

Recently, many longer runs submitted as Twitch highlights have had parts of their audio muted due to Twitch's automatic copyright detection, the most frequent case being long sections of Lost Woods music. Some vods will even give a network error at these parts which can cause several minutes of foot
