I was wondering if it was possible to get a 457 on the timer with no powerups? I’ve seen a few TAS videos of the whole game, but not one that is purely for the first level. I’ve been speedrunning 1-1 quite a bit as small Mario, and I was wondering if it’s even worth my time to attempt a 457 time. Does anyone know if it’s possible, and if possible could you link me a video if you find one?

Most top low% runs (top 3 for sure) will have what your looking for there my friend :3

And yes, 457 is possible

457 is possible but I don't know if you mean mini mario (blue powerups) or "Classic" Mario
In any case I have already managed to make 457 in low%.

Ty for the people that replied due to interest in helping. I’ve seen BMAN’s run on his yt channel and it’s really encouraging, as there are a few patches where I think I could speed things up a little bit, and possibly reach new boundaries for the level.

OddPandemonium yes, 456 is fairly simple once you have a good strategy + execution

458 happened a little while after this post and I just looked at the forums so yeah, the boost he gets off of the goomba is pretty hard and inconsistent and all the other movement is just very optimal
