Yes, we know about it. No, it's not allowed on the leaderboards. If it is ever completed and released (intentionally, not an incomplete version leaked) we'll talk about adding it to the leaderboards. I'm going to lock/delete new threads about this
Not sure what you're saying, this thread isn't directed at anyone in particular. It's just a catch-all because people are going to keep asking about it.
Aside from legal concerns, the PC port loads content way faster than emulator/N64, leading to much faster times if it was used. So even ignoring legal concerns, there is no way that the port will be a fair option on the leaderboards.
This is the first version of the first port. The decompilation project is still alive on GitHub. I'm pretty sure that there will be some updates and / or new ports. I think creating a new subcategory would be a good idea. I don't have a cartridge of SM64 and I got problems with the emulation because of my slow computer, but the port works just fine... I don't think I'm the only one.
I mean technically the source code is the official game but you have to provide the game assets in order to build the game.
I'm pretty sure the version released not only isn't incomplete, but it also wasn't "leaked" they just pretended it was leaked so Nintendo doesn't go after the person who did the port, if they pretend it was leaked they are safe.
The current released version is perfectly capable to handle runs as it is. And everything about the loading times and "official" stuff was already addressed in the thread.
I agree, the PC port should be in a separate subcategory and if load times are a problem, the source code is public so shouldn't it be possible to make the load times the same regardless of system specs.
Maybe I'm missing something, but if fan games are allowed here, mods for official games are allowed too... why unofficial port wouldn't be allowed?
you can submit the pc port as a game in it's self not a bad idea
It wasn't intentionally leaked, it was very much leaked against the will of the majority of the people working on it. It is likely that it will eventually be it's own subcategory and perhaps timed without loads like some pc games do.
We would like to announce that VC and EMU subcategories are now active on the Stage RTA leaderboards (under "Levels"). Stage RTA involves collecting all the stars in a given stage including the 100 coin star. Timing starts on star select and ends upon collecting the final star. You are allowed to us
