The arrow method is shooting an arrow at the wooden button that returns you to hub. While the arrow is in the air, you have just enough time to open your inventory and put 1 item from your hotbar into your crafting slots to preserve it. If this is a wool, that would save a lot of time as you could skip branches. If you are insanely fast you might be able to get 2 items.
so would this apply to Survival Only? Or maybe to skip longer branches in All Braches
Placing above the island is an instruction as the sign says "Up", and the hidden tools on the bedrock also means placing these blocks is allowed. Also, no rule saying you can't reach a place
it's also implied that we aren't supposed to glitch out of the map and direct to the end. Why else would he make so many levels?

A player with a time bar is VERY inaccurate. Here on speedrun.com having an accurate time is MANDITORY. We aren't a third rate speedrunning group, we are professionals. Additionally, that doesn't give us In Game Time which is what all minecraft games are measured with.
But the mod doesn't follow the game rule
The starting&stopping gray screen itself makes inaccurace. Also, I didn't find timer for this exact map
In /mc, it's said that for runs with the same time between IGT and RGT(e.g. on a server) they are replacable
The rule is not clear cuz it's a map for playing not for running. Even if the author doesn't set any rules, PLAYERs still follow the author's way to play, while RUNNERs just break through the map.
l4m2, although it is true that IGT and RTA time can be substituted in some minecraft runs, having an IGT timer is still appreciated. And even still having an RTA timer is ALWAYS a MUST. You have to have an RTA timer visible for the run to be valid. This is non negotiable. Timing starts on first input, and ends upon respawning on top of the diversity logo after the minecart section at the end. Just download Livesplit or Wsplit, they are easy to use RTA timers. Additionally, CBenni's timer (which can be found in the resources section in the main Minecraft leaderboards) can be used as an external IGT timer. An IGT timer is REQUIRED for any run that uses glitches, save + quitting, etc.
Figure something out. I myself once tried to use Fraps until I discovered how useless it was for instances like this. Try using OBS. It's free, and it's a screen capture, not a window capture, meaning you can capture multiple screens at once. As for livesplit not working, I can't help you there. Just google help advice.
Also, Zypher, the arrow method is a fully allowed preserve method for both Survival Branch Only, and normal preserve catagories.
Now back into whether the method is legal. You assumed from the beginning that it's in a grey area, but I hold that it isn't. All the block placings are intended. You are in COMPLETE SURVIVAL MODE with the limit that no placing or removing blocks in the chamber, and it's in fact an extra rule that redstone affecting the bedrock circult is not allowed p.s. it's possible but just too hard to play Survival in adventure/blocks-protected mode, yet it doesn't mean that you can change "Survival Any%" into "No placing/breaking any block"(okay if you create a new category)
l4m2, being in complete survival mode doesn't mean that there are no restrictions. There is no rule outright stating that you are allowed to place blocks on the outside of the bedrock box for the intent of altering the redstone. It is still a grey area. Everything is a grey area, but some are more grey than others, this being one of those. And either way, we still have a perfectly legal method of preserving items. Therefore, for the time being, those other methods of preserving items via altering the redstone are prohibited.
look, I4m2 just stop now, the rules are in place now and honestly, i cant find the proper rules now because of all the confusing posts everyone has made on the matter and it being changed and re-brought back up etc.

Try WSplit. Or you can try googling for more timers. It doesn't have to be super professional, as long as you can start it and stop it accurately, and it counts time accurately. an IGT timer is more important anyway, and your run could be accepted with just an IGT timer.
