So my brother (olofthered) and I discovered a pretty game breaking clipping method and have gotten a new WR in this game, which I've already added to the leaderboard. However, we have been playing NG and not NG+ (delete save data manually after each attempt), but that category is not on the site yet. Any chance it could be added?
Sure.
Basically, the way this game normally works, as you play the game and accomplish certain objectives, you get gems and items you can equip (such as amulets and rings that increase stats, and weapons that are more powerful). The run previous to ours used the best gun in the game as well as strong amulets/rings to speed up fights.
When you start a new game, all items you've earned previously are kept if you use the same profile/account as you used in previous playthroughs, making a regular New Game run harder to do. However, I discovered that if I just manually delete the save files by navigating to the folder that contain them, then we can play a true New Game run that doesn't contain any items not normally attainable at the beginning of the game, which we have been doing in our runs before each attempt.
We do use an extra amulet you get for linking a Square Enix account to the game, but I would argue that fits the spirit of New Game; It's sorta like using DLC, only it's freely available to anyone starting the game for the first time. (It's also impossible, as far as I've seen, to remove your Square Enix account from the game once linked).
Basically, the difference between NG and NG+ is that NG+ uses strong items to increase health and make boss's die much faster, while NG has much lower health, kills bosses slower (which makes the fights hard but more interesting to watch), and requires the players to quickly equip items when they are obtained. One benefit of NG as well is that you don't have to grind out gems and equipment to get optimal stats.
Oh I get it, there's only NG+ category and you want a classic any% category. I initially thought you want to add NG category as something between any% and NG+ (I didn't set the categories for this game).
It's done. Let me know if you want to add some specific rules as I only played this game once and other mods don't really care. I guess it should be specified to delete all save files before each attempt, right?
