Hello.

I'm considering speedrunning Link's Awakening on Switch. I have never speedran new games. So what is the best way to practice segments on Nintendo Switch? Are there any ways to make save states?

Thank you.

The best way I have found is using a save manager on a homebrewed switch because it lets you clearly label which saves are what. Ultimately it is just a label and you can just make practice saves by making multiple profiles without the need for homebrew. Also as far as I know there are no emulators supporting save states for Switch games.

I havn't run this game specifically, but in terms of speedrunning in general. If you want to practice segments you just save the game and practice from your save. or just walk back to where you start the segment. (the save is mainly if you need to collect certain items.) Though I'm also kinda old fashioned when it comes to speedruns so it's not the most efficient, just the most basic. On the switch, if you have switch online you can use that to keep an extra save as well. Though a save manager would be better in general.
