Just make sure you opt in to saving past broadcasts, on the twitch website (or maybe you can do it from the console app, I dunno). They aren't saved by default, you have to tell twitch you want them to be. They are deleted 14 days later so be sure to highlight any good runs before that time.
Could be an elegant solution if you're using PS4 for speedrunning.
^ I actually have both of those for console already. Are the runs good enough to justify rebuying for PC? I've done it before.
And thanks for the suggestions all :)
Never Alone. Sure I mod that game, but I think it could be a cool co-op run. It would eliminate the biggest aggravation in the solo run, which is the AI of whichever character is computer controlled at a particular time. It would take good and constant communication between both players, but I think all co-op runs would.
If you're using PS4 or Xbox One, you can stream to twitch and save your past broadcast there, then either export a highlight to YouTube or just use the stream VOD as your video proof.
Yeah, I'd love it if there was some list (with links, ideally) of games that don't have leaderboards here. (Maybe there already is?) It took me a long ass time to figure out that there was no leaderboard for regular ole' Super Metroid here. I think that would solve all problems, particularly if entering an excluded game into the search bar could bring up that list.
Not sure what else to add. I want to get more into running platformers, retro if possible, and I want to do it on PC. I don't own any consoles older than the original Xbox (at least not currently) and I'm not sure if/when I get "new" ones how easily I could capture from them. So....any good retro or retro-style platformers on Steam to run?
Yeah same. I have it in my settings to show "99:59:59" and instead each game page shows me "99h 59m 59s" The home page, however, still shows me "99:59:59" style times. Not a huge thing, but a little annoying.
Would the two full-mission skips we have be disallowed? I would imagine so. Where would that leave smaller skips like in Blood Trail, Zeke's Request, and Alden Strikes?
This should not even be a matter of opinion. The game allows you to do any karma-related main missions you want, regardless of your overall karma. It's not like the karma side missions in Infamous 1, where you have to have the "correct" karma. If this is not allowed, then the category needs to be called something other than any%, because we would be imposing restrictions that the game doesn't have.
Well it would also have to include the non-karma related side missions (Satellite Uplinks, Photographer, Hidden Package, etc.) wouldn't it?
Right, I forgot about that. Like I said, I have no real standing here as this isn't a run I'm at all interested in doing, but an "all stuff" run makes as much sense to me to getting the in-game counter to 100% (particularly as you can't check that counter without going to the save files screen -- a bit out of the way).
Since activating the Ray Sphere in End of the Road instantly sets your karma to Infamous, would true 100% really require two full playthroughs? Just max out every Hero upgrade and side mission first, then activate the Sphere in that mission, and do it again on the other side. Would still be a long-ass run, and I'll never do it, but it seems like it wouldn't necessarily have to be two full playthroughs.
Holy shit Redslash, let's have lunch sometime (fellow 'hamster here).
Dark Souls speedruns on Youtube.
Any long game. My personal pet is the original Infamous on PS3. Such a cool run -- lots of awesome tricks in it -- but the fact that the WR is over 3 hours probably scares people off. It's a pity. Long games have their place in the speedrunning pantheon.
He ends the run Evil.
Did some pretty exhaustive testing with an actual timer today, and the only timing that worked was 9.7 seconds. Not 9.6, not 9.8, and certainly not anything else.
For the sake of clarity, I'm timing from the moment Shane says 'brother.' You, having different dialogue, will surely have different timing.
I've been counting one-one thousand, two-one thousand.....and shooting off the singularity right as I say "eight wuh." It worked 4 straight times in testing, but of course not in my last actual run. I haven't really had an actual timer up while doing it so I can only refer to my subjective counting speed (your one-one thousand two-one thousand might be slower or faster than mine). Is it possible that this might be frame-perfect? It's a small window, whatever it is.
I did, yes. Thanks for putting this all together :)
I was kind of expecting to get an email, but that's very cool that you've approved one of my runs :) I look forward to the marathon!
