I'm happy to keep talking about this until a middle ground can be found that makes everyone happy. As long as the game is properly represented on SR.com and anyone who wants their PB's on here gets what they want, I think I'd be satisfied. I'm fully against holding anyone back from being able to shine on SR.com if that's what they choose for themselves.
I don't know about that. People are very passionate about this issue. A lot of us have a lot to say and there's more than two of us so you know you're getting more than that. Sorry if it seems a bit much though. I'm sure it wasn't anyone's intent to irritate you.
I'd be willing to discuss the separation of PS1/XC as its own sub-category into two different categories. I am always open for productive and civil discussion.
Hetfield, you don't know who I am. Your words were "it looks like CriscoWild, who I've never heard of before this debacle..." You aren't qualified to speak about my character or my ability to moderate a leaderboard.
Celestinno, if it was actually true that the majority of X3 runners didn't want their times on this site, they wouldn't have to post them here. The site will remain up for those that do. Participation in any leaderboard, MMLB and SR.com alike, is 100% optional. The only group of people I'm concerned with making happy at this point are the people who want to be here, who want to take part. Everyone else can go do their own thing and I won't hassle them about it.
Hetfield, please don't come at me with these insults. I've never been rude to you and I'd appreciate it if you'd show me the same courtesy.
I'd like to state for the record that I never asked for mod of X3. Laseki assigned it to me when I suggested he find a new mod that could help him do work on the site. My suggestion was Justin.
Also, I did try to talk to Luiz. I have screenshots to prove this. He said me and my friends were dumb, told me to fuck off, called me cancer, and blocked me on Discord. It was only after all that, the first time he'd ever been rude to me, that I began to think it was time to help the boards move on.
I also want clean, straightforward, up-to-date boards. I want them on MMLB and SR.com. That's not so bad. Find a way to set up a sync and I'm all for it. What I'm not all for is sitting on our hands waiting for it to happen when we could be adding runs to the board manually one at a time. If everyone here is in favor of SR.com boards so long as they're accurate, let me add your PB's as verified by MMLB.net. As long as your run is on that site, it should be ok to have it on this site. I think that's plenty fair.
Luiz doesn't want to moderate the boards on this website. He doesn't even like this website. SR.com and the people who use it deserve a working Mega Man X3 board. Ideally, the moderators for these games would be people with more knowledge of the game or maybe even faster times than what I have. As it stands now though, it happens that those same people have no interest in exposing our beloved game series to the masses of SR.com and would prefer to keep it to themselves within their small circle of friends over at MMLB.net. I disagree with that and I've begun acting accordingly.
Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against anyone who prefers to use MMLB.net. It's a great site and I like it as much as the next guy. I still submit my PB's to it regularly. Very well done site. I believe the argument that some people have come to me with is that this is an issue of accuracy vs. convenience. You can either have the accuracy of the MMLB.net boards, knowing all the runners submit to that site and that if you see someone has 1st place, you know it's a WR for real; or you can have the convenience of having all of your runs for every speed game you play on one site. That's what people try to sell this issue as. But you know the only reason we can't have it both ways is because the runners won't let us have it both ways. And why wouldn't you want it both ways? Everyone here likes accuracy. Everyone here likes convenience. It doesn't have to be a battle. The only reason the SR.com boards are looked at as inaccurate is because the MMLB guys won't submit. That's it. They hold the site back just because. If not for that, we'd have both accuracy and convenience on one site, which is something we can't possibly have on MMLB. MMLB will never be what SR.com is. They're never going to cater to any other game series besides Mega Man, which means they'll never offer the convenience that is so highly valued on SR.com. MMLB, bless its heart, cannot offer you everything you want, whereas SR.com can offer you everything you want. All you have to do is let it.
Let me state for the record that I have no ill will towards all of Luiz's friends who are trying so hard to ruin things for those of us who want to do our own thing over here on SR.com. I know they're just doing it because he's mad at me and wants to start up some drama. They're being loyal to their friend and at its core, that's an admirable quality. Hetfield, Akiteru, Zam, etc.; they're all boys. Can't fault 'em for that. Thing is though, they don't ever really talk to me or hang out with me. We never play together, despite my best efforts to include them in relays I do. I've tried to reach out to some of these guys, I've tried to be friendly. Maybe they're too busy, maybe they're not interested, IDK. To each his own. But if you guys aren't doing right by me or my people, it's going to be a lot harder for you to convince me to not do right by me or my people. Take a step back, go enjoy the use of MMLB.net, and let us do what we want to do. We want to grow. We want to expand. We want more exposure for these games and we can't do that by staying huddled on one solo series site for the rest of our speedgaming careers. The people of SR.com deserve to be able to wake up in the morning, look through all the random streams for something to watch, be pleasantly surprised when they see Mega Man X3, a game they played in their youth but had almost forgotten about, go check it out and get inspired by it, and then be given the opportunity to try to run it themselves. Not only that, all of our current X runner friends deserve the chance to showcase their skills and personalities on yet another platform; that being SR.com.
I love you all but I'm not caving to this peer pressure. Laseki couldn't handle the bullying that you guys laid down on him but I sure can. It's why I'm here and it's a big part of my argument for why I'm the right guy for the job.
From what I understand, X1 and X2 are the only dead boards at the moment. X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, and X8 all have runs on their boards and you can likely submit successfully to any of them at any time. One of the mods for the X1 board has recently posted in this thread; his name is Akiteru. You could ask him to get those boards up and running. If he doesn't want to, I'd be glad to take over the responsibility. I think it'd be great to have the whole X series on here.
It's happening. You guys don't have to submit your times if you really don't want to, but I prefer having working leaderboards on both sites. The more exposure these games get, the more people we'll have trying to do runs and the more friends we'll make. There's no downside.
I'm taking over as sole moderator of the Mega Man X3 leaderboard on SR.com. I will set everything up and shoulder the burden of any and all shade that may come as a result, as I think it's worth it if it means we all have more options as to where to submit and more exposure for the games we love.
Backing up Laseki on this Mega Man X3 business. I'd even take it so far as to suggest he be removed from all Mega Man X games that he's modding. LuizMiguel has been very hostile towards us in recent days and he's made it clear he doesn't approve of this site or the use of it for tracking Mega Man X runs. He might be a good mod for the other Mega Man site but I can't support having him as a mod here anymore. If anyone needs proof of his hostility, hit us up in DM's and we can discuss.
When's the co-op boards coming out? I'd have thought that'd be a no-brainer for a game like this. I'm very surprised those boards don't already exist.
In what ways could it potentially change the gameplay? Has anyone tested it to see if this is a thing that happens? These posts are 10 months old so maybe you've learned something in that time.
I'd like to see an Any% Easy board that I can submit a run to. I could see myself getting into this game but I'd like to run it a few times on Easy first and get used it on that difficulty before I move on to Normal and Hard. Hook me up, bros.
For providing us all with this excellent leaderboard filled with solid runs from superb runners, I want to personally say thanks. You put a lot of time and effort into making this a thing and you deserve all the love. I appreciate this and I appreciate you. Keep up the good work, Laseki.
I haven't banned any emulators at the moment. No extensive research has been done on them to figure out if any deserve a ban. At this point in time, Twisted Metal is strictly about playing and enjoying the experience of smashing cars with napalm as quickly as possible. Go ham, young Tron_Javolta.
Someone wants me to run this with them. What kind of rules/restrictions would we be looking at? Hit me up with the details so I know if this is doable for me.
Conform or be ostracized. That's the DKC way. RIP my feelings.
