@alkaline_ice I'm not really interested in being a moderator for a board if I can help it. Like I've said a hundred million times, I really only go in on moderation if someone assigns me the role and there's no one else to do it. I'd rather focus on playing games and setting up relays/marathons than have to worry about boards. Not to mention that many people on this site have already expressed their opinion that I'm not trustworthy enough to be a moderator; this doesn't exactly make me eager to seek it out. I'd much prefer someone else handle the work.
@kirkq I've sent you a message on Twitch. You can reply to it when you're able. I still intend to get to the bottom of this beef that you and everyone else seems to have with me.
Also, I'd like to request that a leaderboard be made for the game UFC Undisputed 3. I've recently begun to enter the world of console streaming and this is one of many games I intend to play. Please assign a mod of your choice to oversee the creation of said leaderboard so that I can start doing runs and submitting them.
Buffalo and Rochester in New York are both cities which are close to Toronto and close to where I live. Have you considered either one of those yet?
I messaged IonG while he was still a series mod. His response was that he mostly just takes care of Mega Man 7 and to ask Joka about Mega Man 2, which is probably a good idea since he runs MMLB.net and is the only series mod left on SR.com as of the time of this writing. I'll hit him up and see what he says.
Edit: Joka's Twitch doesn't allow him to see my whispers so I sent the other type of Twitch message. Let's hope he sees it. I know I never check those things.
I'd be willing to ask some of the various moderators from MMLB.net and SR.com about it. I personally would very much like to see Mega Man 2 be represented on SR.com.
I noticed that none of the runs on the boards currently are done with an emulator. I've asked around and been told that emulator saves time vs. console via having significantly less lag. Is this true?
It would be a shame not to allow emulator runs if they're faster; speedrunners do like to go fast and not everyone can afford consoles and/or hard copies of a game. Still, if there's a big difference between console and emulator than I'd say they shouldn't share a board. What are the chances that emulators could get their own section on here that would separate them from console runs?
@kirkq Your Twitch settings prevent you from seeing my whispers.
I agree that a leaderboard isn't absolutely necessary for someone to just run a game but a big part of what motivates speedrunners is the idea of competing for faster PB's with other like-minded individuals. Plenty of people will play casually for fun but this isn't Letsplay.org, this is Speedrun.com. People want to see how their times stack up against other people. It's why we're here. I'll DM you on Twitch if you like.
The leaderboard was never for me, it was for people who had an interest in running the game. To my knowledge, there wasn't anything keeping you guys from setting up a Lament board long before I showed up. I assume it was just an oversight. Maybe there are other Castlevania games that I don't know about which also don't have boards set up. If it really bothers anyone here that I asked to have a board set up for a game I don't run, double check the series and make sure you've got all your bases covered. I'm planning a Castlevania relay/marathon and there's still a chance this could happen again if any of my guys decide they want to learn a game that has no established board.
I never asked for mod of Lament. I don't understand why nobody wants to accept this. All I asked for was that a board be made because at the time, I had at least two people who I thought would run the game with a possible third on the way. Joe, don't feel bad about making a board for Lament. It has runs on it and Komrade has an interest in maintaining it. Even if my friends don't end up learning the game after all, why should we deny anyone else the opportunity? It's fine. You didn't do anything wrong.
@kirkq I'm not willing to accept blame for people who don't like me finding reasons to be annoyed with me when I'm not actively trying to annoy anybody. That'd be silly.
https://gyazo.com/8b7a728ad55035871bff369d446c57be - Here's screenshot #1 of the opening paragraphs in my conversations with Castlevania series mods Dragondarch and JoeDamillio. There are four of these mods and the reason I asked them first can be seen in the next screenshot.
https://gyazo.com/9670c5c30fefb1f8895c349e0f6aaadd - Here's screenshot #2, a pic of the Castlevania series page. Here you can see Joe and Dragon are on top with Komrade and Kmac on bottom. Contrary to what might be your belief, I did not neglect asking Komrade out of some show of disrespect because I dislike him or anything like that. He'd have been next on the list if the first two hadn't responded. I went in order from top to bottom, making an exception to ask Dragondarch first because a friend had previously told me he has WR.
As you can see in SS#1, I specifically requested that the Castlevania series mods set the board up themselves as opposed to having me ask the SR.com site staff to do it. There was a reason for this.
https://gyazo.com/cf667f73657967cdce6e6150f12e4852 - Screenshot #3. The first time I posted on this thread was for Twisted Metal 2 when I had a run that needed to be verified. The mod at the time wasn't active and I wanted to call attention to it so that it could be taken care of. You'll note that I did not ask for mod here and was given mod anyway without ever having been asked if I wanted it. This would not be the last time it would happen.
https://gyazo.com/b7b6e2d1e2dd2ee63ada672c44f52196 - Screenshot #4. This is your response to what I posted so many months ago.
https://gyazo.com/4cb39ea64864a846c49b7abba9c88003 - Screenshot #5. My surprised response at finding out I'm a mod. How can you look at this and think I mean anyone any harm? I had no idea what I was doing but I was given this responsibility and I tried my best to make the most of it. When I started as mod, the only boards that existed were TM2 and TM4. I made boards for the rest of the games because I knew people would eventually want to submit runs and that's what happened. People came, they submitted runs, we all talked and had fun, I made us a Discord to congregate on, it was good times for everybody.
I see a lot of maybes being thrown around. There's no reason to wonder about a lot of those things, you know. I can just straight up tell you about every single one of them. If you choose not to believe me and instead you take the word of people who never talk to me or play with me, that's certainly your prerogative but I have to ask: who would know better than me what my motivations and intentions are?
"Maybe you just asked for the board to be created because you noticed it didn't exist or you were thinking about running it" - I definitely asked for the board to be created because I definitely noticed it didn't exist and I had friends who were considering running the game. I've never considered running it prior to being mod and when I considered that, it was only to familiarize myself with the game so as to be a better mod.
"maybe you didn't ask for mod" - There's no maybe about this one. I never asked for mod, not for Twisted Metal 2, not for Mega Man X3, and not for Lament of Innocence. In all three cases, they were given to me without having been asked first if I wanted it.
"maybe you just got mod by consequence" - I did. Here's screenshot #6 - https://gyazo.com/0af7b5d516bec6d4c67062a7f12a2267 - This shows series mod JoeD letting me know he'd given me mod and me letting him know instantly that I didn't run the game, that I knew nothing about it, and that I was more than willing to step aside once someone better came along. In addition, you'll see further communication on my part toward Dragondarch in which I let him know that the board was up, that I'd heard from other people (Komrade and Plum) that he and SirVG had runs floating around, and that I'd like to add them to the board. This is me being cooperative with any members I can find of an established community for the game and/or series.
Keep in mind you've accused me of "intentionally undermining and bypassing series moderation and creating unnecessary conflict" despite the fact that there's evidence to support I've been willing to work with two out of three series mods, only refusing to mod the third when I found out he was being a judgmental jerk toward me despite not having talked to me previously. Had you or him not deleted his forum posts, this is where I'd have screenshotted those. I'm the one creating conflict? I had never once talked to Komrade prior to his nasty messages on this thread. You're going to have to explain to me how I'm to blame for his choices on how to approach me. Other members of this site saw fit to call him out on it but for some reason you blame me. I don't get it.
Before we run the risk of having this deleted as well, here's screenshot #7 - https://gyazo.com/432eaec43942af23de0b478917bfa0f0 - This is a member of the site who I am not terribly familiar with and maybe haven't talked to before standing up for me on account of the way that Komrade chose to approach the situation.
Here's screenshot #8 - https://gyazo.com/d2724a19fda03375cf28a78e35c2f1ae - Another instance of people standing up for me and/or criticizing Komrade for how he handled the situation. As you can see in my message addressed to him (the message he wrote but was deleted), I didn't call him names or tell him to heck off, I didn't bust out my caps lock key and get real toxic. I stayed chill even while he was decidedly less than such.
Let's get into some more maybes.
"maybe you thought that was weird" - I don't really think of it like that or care. Being mod isn't a power thing, it's a service you do for the community. It's an opportunity to make things better. Weird that I'm mod of a game I don't know? Sure, but you make the most of it.
"maybe you tweeted about it because you thought it was weird" - I did not tweet about me being mod in Lament. I have a grand total of 20 posts on my Twitter and five of them are Lament-related.
Two are responses to Plum's own tweets about me that someone brought to my attention (as seen in the first link that you provided yourself).
One was a reply to somebody who asked that I respond to Komrade's SR.com posts about me (seen here in screenshot #9 - https://gyazo.com/8e86b5d4f234b1868d357e22058b5b0b -).
One was a reply to Komrade who asked if he could have mod after trashing me on the boards (seen here in screenshot #10 - https://gyazo.com/abc1f2be9f92cc9711532c6f60c8f61d -).
And the last was a reply to someone who had mistakenly interpreted a comment I made to mean I was advertising for a free WR in Lament; I took that opportunity to correct the misunderstanding so as not to appear foolish or a jerk (as seen in the second link that you provided).
"maybe you didn't want to add the series moderator who (like you) didn't run this specific game" - The only reason I didn't mod him instantly was because it was called to my attention that he was trash talking me. The first thing I read was his Twitter post and had I not been directed to look at SR.com that same moment, I'd have replied back with "Hell yes you can be mod. I'd love someone who knows the game to come in here and help me out or even take over for me. I just wanted to make the board, I don't need to mod it myself. Let me hook you up, one sec." Alas, he was a jerk. I don't give people what they want when they treat me with disrespect. I make no apologies for that.
"maybe you thought the other mod who did run the game should mod it." - Well, yeah. Isn't this a no-brainer? He's not just a series mod for Castlevania like Komrade. Dragondarch also happens to be the recognized WR holder for the majority, if not all, of this game's categories. Considering your eagerness to re-mod the X3 WR holder LuizMiguel, can you blame me for thinking that the Lament WR holder who was nice to me is perhaps a better choice for mod than the guy who didn't have any visible times on Plum's other Lament leaderboard screenshot and was a jerk to me? If your answer to that question is yes, I'd love to hear an explanation for your reasoning.
You're right about one thing, that being that users in different communities have been annoyed twice in two weeks. I'm one of them. I've been bullied and harassed quite a bit the past couple of weeks by people from X3, people from Lament, and even by you now. You guys don't dare take my feelings into consideration when I have to hear about how I'm a bad moderator, I'm untrustworthy, I'm crazy, I'm a douchebag, I'm power tripping, I'm baiting people into getting mad, I'm telling stories that you just don't buy. All this and for what? Because I dared to try making the boards a better place. You probably have no idea what kind of a toll this has had on me. All you care about is that all the other kids got mad because they either didn't get to shut the X3 boards down completely or because they didn't think to make a Lament board first. Boo hoo. You all think you have it super bad but a younger and more immature kids have literally killed themselves over less. So maybe instead of looking at me as the bad guy, you should all take a super long look in the mirror and just like said mirror, take some time to reflect. I've been nothing but nice to anyone who has been nice to me, and even when people aren't nice to me, I try to keep it chill for as long as I can. I'm not sure we can say that about you dudes.
And you're right about another thing. I don't have an inherent need to moderate Lament. I don't want it. I never wanted it. I'm not going to run it and I know nothing about it so why would I need to mod it? I wouldn't. That doesn't mean I won't if one of the Castlevania series mods gives me that responsibility, but as soon as I had the chance to mod someone better than me who wasn't a jerk, I took it. I respect the board and I respect the site. When are you going to respect me?
@kirkq I didn't ask for mod status on the Lament board. My only request was that the board be made. Series mod JoeDamillio can back me up on this 'cause he's the one I talked to. During the conversation we had, I asked him to make a board, he did and made me mod, and I specifically told him that although I appreciated it, I didn't know anything about the game but would try to do my best until someone better came along. I don't know where you're getting the idea that I've ever tried to bait people into getting mad. That's never my intention. Whomever you've been talking to that's whispering things into your ear, I think you might need to give that a break and get to know me yourself before jumping on the bandwagon of everyone hating on me. I mean, if we're going to play the screenshot game, I can send you mine. You wanna see me talking to Joe or Dragondarch? You wanna see my Discord conversations about setting this board up just so my friends could have somewhere to submit runs to? Do I need to bring in character witnesses who have spent way more time with me than either you, Luiz, or Komrade who can tell you what kind of a guy I am? I'm not at all interested in drama but if you insist on dragging my name through the mud, we can talk on here or we can talk on Discord or wherever you're comfortable with. Either way, I'm not having this smear campaign.
@kirkq If you're referring to me, I can't imagine what drama you might think I've intentionally stirred up. I'd love to know. What Twitter bait posts are you referencing? The only time I remember talking to anyone about Lament on Twitter was when Komrade asked me if he could mod the board. As per my recollection, I replied one time to let him know I had modded Dragondarch and that he'd be taking care of run submissions before I ended up being blocked by Komrade.
I'm interested in learning this game. I originally came here hoping to find a guide of some kind but now I'm curious about the way the categories are set up.
Any%, Alucard US, Grant US, Sypha US, Trevor US, Alucard JP, Grant JP, Sypha JP, and Trevor JP.
The rules for these categories aren't filled out at the moment so there's nothing there to provide me with clarity. Would anyone here be so kind as to tell me the differences between the categories?
With a category like Grant - US, I assume you use the US cart/rom, grab Grant ASAP and play as him throughout the entire game. Sypha - JP is probably get Sypha ASAP and play as her through the whole game but on the JP cart/rom. What is Any%? Is that just do whatever you want on any cart/rom with any character?
Also, have you guys thought about using sub-categories at all?
Dude deleted his posts and blocked me on Twitter. RIP.
You think it's a waste of time to be civil and nice to me? It's unfortunate that you believe that. I'm a super cool guy if you take the time to get to know me first. Maybe you shouldn't believe everything you hear.
Edit: Following KirkQ's example and lead from the X3 debate, I invite anyone who may have anything else to discuss regarding Lament of Innocence to do so on the Lament board's own forum page instead of cluttering up this page with posts unrelated to mod requests.
I'd rather people use this thread to discuss Mega Man mod stuff than make a new one. I'm glad that we've finally achieved our goal of having working X1-X8 boards. Next up should be all the classic games. I hope to one day see my Mega Man and Mega Man 2 PB's on here along with my Mega Man 3 PB.
This is a completely new request. The last was about X3. This is about X1 and X2.
Celestinno just comes off as an attack dog. Anything he's had to say has been negative. Anybody that he doesn't like is stupid or a douchebag, crazy or annoying, and he cusses us out as often as he gets the chance. F¤ck this, f¤ck that, don't f¤cking do this, you're f¤cking that. It's not super cool.
Edit: I definitely felt harassed by Celestinno earlier in the thread and I can see why Cyberdemon might feel that way now.
