I'd like to request that all the current mods of the game Mega Man X3 (Nu, Auchgard, LuizMiguel, Laseki, Akiteru, Hetfield90, nrgzam) be instated as additional mods of the games Mega Man X and Mega Man X2. Now that we've established all these runners have an interest in maintaining leaderboards on SR.com, I think it very reasonable that we go for the full series. Mega Man X and Mega Man X2 are the last two remaining holdouts and they rank among the most popular games among the eight. In addition, all the current X3 mods are just as skilled at X and X2 and most of them also mod X and X2 on MMLB.net, so I see no reason why anyone would object.
In the event that they find this unacceptable, as before, I am willing to do the work myself. I don't believe it needs to come to that, but I'm here if needed.
@kirkq I went to sleep and wake up to find I've been removed as a moderator and all the people who had previously harassed me and put a beating on my character are now mods in my place. What happened in the five hours that passed between now and my bed time? Who did you talk to and why was I not involved in this discussion? I had and continue to have the site's best interest in heart so at the end of the day, as long as they do the job I was going to do, it's not a big deal. But still, I'd have liked to have been consulted.
If I didn't want a good board, would I have spent the last two hours adding runs manually from MMLB to SR.com? Whatever logical conclusion you're coming to, it's a funny kind of logic you're using. No matter who I add as mod, I'm staying on as mod so I can make sure things go right. Laseki's quit once and Zewing/Justin have never expressed interest in being mod here AFAIK. Assuming they end up as mods now, it could be a temporary thing for them. I trust them to do a good job while they're here but who's to say how long that'd last? You can't just think in short-term context.
You've accused me of being on a power trip and you've insinuated that I'm a crazy douchebag. You've also cussed me out and said I throw tantrums. Compare that to anything I've said about you, which is to say nothing. Any and all hostility is clearly coming from your end.
I don't need to know if anyone is cheating or not. Every single run on here has been ported over from MMLB. You trust the mods on that site to verify those runs, right? So do I. There's no problem. This site is a mirror. You know this. Stop reaching for reasons to stay mad and chill out. I think it'd be helpful for both of us if we all took a big long nap and came back to this tomorrow when we're not all worked up and mad. Maybe then we can have productive dialogue that doesn't involve insults and insinuations. Wouldn't that be nice? I sure think so.
Who did I say was trustworthy and when did I say I'd hand over mod to anybody? I said I'd consider bringing on additional mods but I never said I'd just hand it over and step back. I think you've misunderstood the conversation we've been having. You're free to think I'm a douchebag or whatever but that has nothing to do with my ability to moderate a board. I'm not sure what qualifications you think a moderator needs but I'll tell you I have the ones that matter.
Do I have enough free time to moderate this board? Yes. Do I have interest in moderating this board? Yes. Do I play the game? Yes. Am I willing to hear people out and consider their opinions even when they insult me? Yes.
That all sounds pretty good if you ask me. Not sure I agree with your claim that I'm throwing a tantrum. Which one of us is accusing the other of being a crazy douchebag? Seems to me the tantrum is being thrown by you. I think you need to chill out, take a breath, step back from this whole thing, and find your center so we can resume the discussion without all the vitriol. It'd be better for me if I didn't have to deal with people insulting me and it's better for your personal karma if you don't end up being the kind of person who walks that path.
Celestinno, I've only submitted your run once and that was only after Hetfield said he and Luiz were in favor of putting all the PB's from MMLB.net onto SR.com. This happened four hours ago. If you still have the notifications on SR.com that show I submitted a run on your behalf twice and if those both took place before Hetfield's message, I'd like to see screenshots of those.
I don't feel embarrassed at all. I didn't force my way into anything. Laseki modded me without asking, Luiz was removed, and Laseki quit. I'd argue that I'm being very reasonable and plenty of people agree, including SR.com site mod KirkQ. Both parties won't be able to agree as long as both parties want such vastly different things. Your friends want these boards to die and my friends don't. If you're super tired of this, take a break from it and go play a game or watch someone's stream. Participation in this discussion is optional. You're here of your own free will. Don't blame me for any frustration that might come of it. I'm nothing but kind to everyone here, even if they don't agree with me.
"World Record" was a placeholder name that allowed me to post the WR for each category while still respecting the wishes of those runners who didn't wish to have their VOD's or names posted on this board. It was done for the benefit of anyone who might want to visit this board and find out what the WR time is.
Since then, mods of MMLB.net (Hetfield and LuizMiguel) have come out and said they want to put all the PB's for this game on SR.com. Now that they've taken this stance, I've done some work and replaced "World Record" with the correct names and VOD's.
Go practice Squeak Squad.
Working boards for everyone are more important than what people who never talked to me in the first place think of me. Seems like a good trade off to me. What is it you think I'm wrong and delusional about? We've already seen that Hetfield and Luiz have said they want everyone's times to be on the SR.com boards. I'm currently in the process of providing that. Everybody wins.
I'm not on a power trip. I recognize my own skills as a mod. I have the free time to keep this board updated and I have the genuine interest to do so. We can't say that about everyone else who has weighed in on this issue so far. I'm right for the job whether I'm a popular choice or not. I didn't ask for this but now that it's been given to me, I'm going to make the most of it. Life gave me the ball and I can either drop it or run with it. I choose to run.
Luiz had a chance to mirror the boards. He's the one that's been deleting them. He doesn't want a mirror, he just wants to be in control. That's not the quality you want in a good mod. Having a fast time in a game and having extensive knowledge of said game is nice but it's not mandatory for regulating a leaderboard. Those are two separate skills. As it stands now, every run that goes on this board has already been verified by MMLB and the mods there. So assuming we all trust those guys (we do), there's no need for me to be fast at X3 to do this job properly.
I could have used your help when I asked for permission to submit your runs to these boards and you told me I couldn't lol. If anyone's going to help me, it should be Laseki, Zewing, or Justin. I think they're likely the most level-headed people and the best choices for the job. There's big rush on this job but help would be nice 'cause it's a lot to do.
I'm not on a power trip. I just want SR.com boards to work. No one else wanted to do it so I'm going to do it.
Also, since the mods of MMLB in Hetfield and Luiz have agreed that they'd be willing to manually re-add all the runs that were deleted, I'm going to take that to mean I have permission to do it myself. I'll start on that immediately. Thank you Hetfield and Luiz for being willing to compromise here. I hope this is the start of everyone working together towards good things.
Cyberdemon531, that's a really good question. If Luiz doesn't care enough about being mod to request it himself, it's hard to imagine a reason why he ought to be given it. Let him come here and make his case. He's a grown man, he can speak for himself.
Hetfield90, you're mistaken about why Laseki and I asked to have Luiz removed as a moderator. Your belief is that it was done because we disagree with his decision making but that's not the case. We asked Luiz to be removed because he's both toxic and paranoid, in addition to not having the site's best interests at heart. It's cool that you're all super interested in working on this site now, but it's a little late in the game for all this. You've all had years to work on this before I ever touched Mega Man X and you got nothing done. It's my turn now. I intend to make the most of this opportunity and set up the boards as well as I can. Now, I'm totally willing to take advice from anyone here who wants a say, but you're not getting mod status. Everyone here knows how you really feel about the site and any play to get re-involved is a means to an end for you guys to shut this down. I won't allow that.
As an aside, if I need to start showing screenshots, I will. Say the word.
Laseki, you were not acting like an impulsive jackass and you don't owe anyone an apology. Luiz blew up on you because you made what amounts to a tiny mistake with one of the categories. These guys are being jerks to you. You deserve better and you know it.
Zewing, I'm fully willing to take on a second mod to help me out with this site. Frontrunners are Laseki, Zewing, and Justin. The following people are out of the question: Luiz, Hetfield, Akiteru, Nu.
Akiteru, if you really think this website is seriously flawed, you shouldn't waste so much time on it. Focus on making MMLB the best it can be and let me make SR.com the best it can be. In fact, why don't you hit me up with mod status for X1 and you can help me work on that board too? .
If a person's name doesn't link to their SR.com profile, it might mean they don't have a SR.com profile. Nordren is an example of this. My understanding is he has no profile on SR.com, yet still has personally given me permission to submit X3 runs on his behalf. With that having been said, there's his run for all to see.
Nobody who currently has a VOD submitted to this board has had it placed there without giving me permission first. I've talked to every one of them and got their blessing. There shouldn't be any concern over whether or not people might not like it.
World record is world record. I'd be happy to give credit to LuizMiguel for that World Record spot that is rightfully his, but he doesn't want it. Luiz wants nothing to do with this site unless it's to keep the rest of us from using it. If he doesn't want his name here, I respect that decision. Regardless, the WR should be known. It's a part of X3 history and it'll be represented one way or the other.
There's already a link to the MMLB site in the rules section of every X3 category that we've got listed.
