There's a youtube series called "spot the splice", that's kinda what you sound like you're looking for...
I mean "does not appear to be notable" is just dogwhistle for "I'm making a judgment call this game is trash and doesn't meet the subjective quality threshold" let's not pretend there's some kind of objective standard barometer for quality of a speedgame right guys like come on you can't really think this isn't what's really going on it's not like there's a rigorous algorithm the games go through remember the staff are humans who don't actually speedrun the games they're judging and we don't know if they're paid much if at all so "notability" just means "nah" and if we can all remember that then we won't have these great debates on how high-profile your garbage game is every other day either that or the staff can change their wording and say something like "this doesn't meet the expectation of quality and we've chosen not to have it on the site you can resubmit it in six weeks with a stronger argument if you want but in the meantime go track the leaderboard yourself" or something what do you guys think?
Did you try contacting them on Twitch or Twitter? Don't forget to add your own social media links to your profile here. That's a requirement to become a mod.
Negative Feedback Loop. A man who vigorously defends his right to rudely complain cannot take criticism himself. A play in three acts, starring @diggitydingdong
Opens tonight. Reviews and ratings are conspicuously silent. (Bring your own popcorn.)
What's the point of this complaint topic?

You can't stop users from posting on the forums.

Even if you had any right to tell them not to use the forums... if you believe these people have trouble with comprehension, why do you think they'll read this?

If it's such a bother to you that people want more clarification than the 40 characters in a notification, I think you need to ctfo.
@Oxknifer You said you get a lot of shade. I think it's because you're way outside the norm on enforcement of video timers for RTA. From my understanding, you're fully aware of this, and you'll hold firm on it. I'm going to try to keep an open mind here. I didn't really want to comment on your practices but honestly you did a nice write up of your rationale so going with the flow of this topic's conversation I gotta put my word in. Can't help it. Sorry OP.
I commend you for making yourself available, Oxknifer, to any new runners who need help complying with your rigid rules, even if they aren't in line with most of the other communities. That takes dedication. Maybe you can add a message to that effect right in your standard rules script.
In the past, admins and full mods have intervened in this type of situation, as you might know. So it's good that you at least say you take personal considerations of runners into account. I hope that means that if a brand new runner didn't comply, but they acted in good faith, and they plan to improve, then maybe you let that run sit on the leaderboards for a couple weeks while they try to PB with a compliant video. Or something to that effect.
Interestingly, enforcing strict rules probably gives a beneficial amount of structure and a certain decorum to the web and mobile games you're responsible for, and I think you're counteracting the silliness that goes with that type of game. Whether that's your intention or not, maybe it helps keep meme submissions away.
If it works for you, that's great.
I'll echo the cautions of the posters above me and say that a timer on the run video for RTA can be seen as an unwise verification shortcut. But if you're as committed as you say you are, then I hope you can keep it up.
There's no reason an experienced runner can't add a live timer. Conversely, there's no reason an experienced runner can't add a timer in post, edited into the video, completely unlinked to the run and worse than useless for verification purposes.
@Naxed you can see that people get really passionate about our hobby. That's the nature of hobbies. Watch out for bias in the videos you referenced. The creators straight up call one guy a "filthy cheater", while in the same breath, make excuses for another cheater, to the effect of "well he admitted it when he was caught so it's ok". If you're writing a serious article, treat those videos as semi-researched opinions.
Not even.
As long as the video quality and encoding is fine, then you can submit the run.
Timing the run yourself, during the run, is optional most of the time.
You'll need an accurate time when you submit the run, but it is absolutely not necessary to show a timer on-screen except in some rare cases when an autosplitter is required... (or if the mods of the game are exceedingly incompetent and rely on the runner's own timer to "verify" the run.)
^what do you mean, even if the run gets rejected? Is your pending run not legitimate?
Edit: nice edit WutFace
^ @btrim I got game maker studio in a humble bundle years ago. I can go make a game in 1 hour using downloadable physics and assets packages. It has obscene material, you know, because art. You can barely call it finishable, since it's partly endless. It's very high quality in my opinion and if more people played it I think it could win GotY. I'll put it up for free on this site's resources page on the game page. Should my game be allowed?
Edit: the title of the game is Btrim Stinks, and it's been submitted to steam greenlight and itchio
Speak to the moderator who is directly responsible for the game, @artucino. You may want to make a forum post on the game's own forums.
A decision will have to be made regarding whether the regions should be separated. But there is no cause to ban a region.
Dark Wizard, no doubt. It's a Genesis game from 1993. It displeases me so.
Don't edit an existing run/submission if you did a new run. Always submit each run separately or not at all.
Do you have your own speedrun leaderboard as a temporary measure until you get a SRC board up? I'd recommend a Discord server or a Google sheet as a way to track all the other runners.
Idk. I think it's implicit that a "request" can be denied.
Forma.8 is a simple metroidvania with chill music and a slow fluid movement. You control a floaty probe exploring a planet. There aren't any major glitches. It's on PC and current consoles. The run is about an hour.
