Hello I have made a couple of requests for the game Basketball GM and they've been rejected. In my request I included my speedrun of what our community considers the "Dynasty" category, which is achieving the Dynasty achievement in the game. Reason given for rejection "we are not currently accepting content of this kind." Its a webgame which I understand this website is strict about. However I was wondering if there is any additional information I can share about the game to possibly get it accepted. Thank you for the help.
Here is the run in question
So, while this game(?) clearly requires knowledge to navigate successfully, it doesn't really classify as a video game does it?
@TheGreatToddman I would disagree, I would consider other sports managers (like Football Manager, Out of the Park Baseball) games, just niche games. It's just a game with an open objective, whether you want to try to run a financially sufficient club, or be a championship winning team that's up to you. In this case, I'm just trying to create a dynasty as fast as possible.
Like I said, I understand if we are not granted a leaderboard; however, if there is anything I can do to give more details or evidence why I think it should be added please let me know.
Do you have your own speedrun leaderboard as a temporary measure until you get a SRC board up? I'd recommend a Discord server or a Google sheet as a way to track all the other runners.
Obviously I’m not site staff so take my words with a grain of salt, but I don’t imagine there’s much you can do or much info you can provide that would let this game be accepted. It looks almost point and click like, and games like that just aren’t allowed on the site. There doesn’t look like much gameplay, if any. It’s all just moving your mouse and clicking fast.
Yea I understand that and agree with that to an extent. This was probably a poor decision to show this category (only category currently being ran), because a lot of gameplay elements aren't there, though like you said it would still just be point and click. If this post doesn't make any headway, then maybe I'll try a category that will show off more of the game and re-request it, but ultimately if this post or that doesn't work, at least we'll have Google sheets.
"It looks almost point and click like, and games like that just aren’t allowed on the site. "
wat?

Moreover, there's a point 'n click currently not on the site I'm planning to the run in the future. Is there actually a rule against them now though?
to me it kind of like a vn tiny bit more complex with rng it seems but not complex enough. I don't think "we are not currently accepting content of this kind." were the right words to use maybe more detail like this game plays like this ____ we do not currently accept this or something like that. I will say this though I don't think the game should be on the site but it is sad not to be allowed to have it up :( but as long as your community is happy and such that great nothing stopping you with sharing runs you think were cool in offtopic or whatever, don't need to be on the site for you to be able to interact with the community here or your own community ^^ oh also could try get it added to cyberscore :D idk how to do that but it's an option ^_^ idk this post kinda rambly but hope it kinda helps or something
Yeah I remember point and click games being lumped with VNs in terms of games that don’t have enough gameplay to be accepted (usually, especially short ones). Maybe I’m talking out my ass, but I swear I remember it.
Also, I’m not entirely sure what linking those 3 series is proving - some of those games were added 4 years ago well before any rules were put in place and since they are all series, mods can bypass the game request and add to them (not saying any of those games would have or should have been rejected, but I find it odd to link them)
They're point and click games. You said they "aren't allowed on this site." Clearly they at least were, and I then went on to ask if there is a new rule against them. Reading entire posts is fun.
I think what he meant by point and click is that you literally point and click, not that pointing and clicking is the gameplay.
I'd argue this isn't even a game
idk man clicking a couple buttons on a web page to run a simulation seems pretty fucking boring to me. It's very much approaching non game status, and SRC has rejected actual "gamey" games before.
You can track your PBs in a spreadsheet, or in a google sheet if you wanna share it with people.
I'm not arguing that this game HAS to be on this website, or that the game isn't extremely a niche and probably boring to many, but the game is almost entirely gameplay. It might not interest you, but it's still a game. And like I said above we have a Google sheet and I understand the decision to rejected it.
It isn't entirely gameplay at all, if it was say NBA 2K and you played through all of the games, then it would be, but it's a computer sim, you just click start.
I mean there's still management involved, it's not as simple as hitting start. Just because you are not actually playing the games doesn't make it gameplay.
I'm not sure why you're still posting. you said you understood the decision to reject it.
