2 questions, first is pretty standard. Is it necessary to QuickShot G3 w/ Magnum when you run behind him to trigger his G4 transformation? Or can it be pulled off with normal shots? (I play US version, thus it only takes 3 shots to trigger his transformation).
Second question is about something VERY strange (and seemingly ridiculously untrue) I read in an otherwise pretty sound GameFaqs guide. It stated that when you mix up a brown herb (G+R+B) not only does it fully heal/unpoison you, but that it grants you a few frames of invincibility. I have never in all my years of playing classic RE games heard of this (although, nor have I been able to test it either as I'm away from my console this week lol). This is malarkey, correct? Haha
Hi Conky,
You don't need to QS first stage, normal shots are fine. I would recommend turning slightly though to keep your shots on target.
Sounds like BS to me, never heard of invincibility frames before, never mind a brown herb.
Lol well now I feel dumb..."brown herb" is my own, personal term for the mix of a G+R+B :/ ...am I the ONLY one who thinks the glob of mixed herb looks brown?! Lol
And thanks for the reply MasterMiller, it didn't appear in videos that QS'ing was necessary, but as I said I'm unfortunately away from my console for almost a full week and unable to test on my own til then...Im losing my mind! Haha
I've mixed all of the herbs in all of the different combinations and I can confirm that this is BS (I can only speak for Bio2 PC).
Exactly what I thought too, Darazanjoll.
Before I looked into speedrunning, my goal when playing RE2 for a hobby was just getting A's (I play US version) without saving or utilizing any FAS's. Since I didn't yet know about the various G3/G4 strats in Leon/Claire A (or Tyrant strats for the B scenarios), and I also didn't know that a G+R herb heals the same as a G+R+B minus curing Poison, I consistently created 2-3 G+R+B's (what I call a "Brown Herb" lol) to take into the final boss fights in lieu of FAS's. And I feel like I can clearly recall getting decimated by the Super Licker Hallway, as well as G4, despite popping a brown herb. I'd pop one just to immediately get grabbed by G4's Grab/Chew x3/ Throw attack and be RIGHT back in Caution.
It's settled...there are no herb "Invincibility Frames" in classic RE's...and this dude on GameFaqs is just a nut. Lol
