Hey guys, i just bought a n64 with sm64 and couldnt resist to play it instantly. i played it a few years ago on an emulation but now the n64 version feels kinda.. slow? idk but even jumping feels like im on the moon. is this possible? are there different versions out there? thank you for helping! :)
if you have the pal version that's why, it runs slower than the US/JP versions
Yeah I would guess that the PAL version is what you have since you're in Europe. That was the version sold there when the game originally came out.
Yeah, PAL runs on 25 FPS while NTSC runs on 30. If you want to speedrun SM64 on N64 I would recommend getting an NTSC console and cartridge in the long run.
For getting into the game and doing a few attempts before you decide if you want to keep running or not a PAL version can be OK-ish, though.
If you plan on eventually switching to NTSC, I would recommend that you don't spend a whole lot of time practicing and learning a run on PAL. Once you're used to PAL's 25 FPS, NTSC's 30 FPS seems ridiculously fast. (Speaking from experience)
If you wish to replace your twitch highlights with reuploads, please edit your already verified run rather than deleting the verified run and making a new submission. This makes it a lot easier for us to track which submissions are reuploads and should be less work on your part as well.
