Hi everyone,

Last week, a poll was posted on the Deltarune speedrunning discord server regarding the future of CH1-4 runs, and any future obsolete All Chapters categories. Thank you to everyone who responded.

The results have since been analysed. Whilst it was clear for where the categories would go for each option, it was very close between whether the categories would simply be relocated, or if the categories would move to a spreadsheet. As such, the results were filtered by those who have speedran the game, and further for those who have ran CH1-4 All Chapters.

A summary of the Category Relocation vs Spreadsheet results are below:

Everyone (76 responses)

• Category Relocation: 46.1%

• Spreadsheet: 53.9%

Deltarune Runners (62)

• Category Relocation: 37.1%

• Spreadsheet: 62.9%

All Chapters Runners (30)

• Category Relocation: 33.3%

• Spreadsheet: 66.7%

Whilst the results are very close across all responders, Deltarune speedrunners were much more likely to vote for Spreadsheet over Category Relocation. Not much difference was found between Deltarune Runners and All Chapters Runners.

As such, all Chapters 1-4 categories, including Category Extensions and all future obsolete categories, will be moved to a spreadsheet. This spreadsheet will be viewable via a pinned forum post on speedrun.com.

In addition to these categories, we successfully archived all past non-April Fools categories, including CH1+2 (Main and CE) and CH1 (True Pacifist True Reset, and Jevil True Reset). As such, these will also be added to the spreadsheet to preserve some of the games past history. This was not talked about in the poll as it was not thought of until after the poll was posted.

The spreadsheet is planned to be released alongside the upcoming leaderboard embargo ending, but it may take longer. Please be patient with us during this time.

There will be deadline for when you can submit CH1-4 runs. YOU MUST SUBMIT ALL CH1-4 RUNS BY WEDNESDAY 2PM UTC! RUNS SUBMITTED AFTER THE LEADERBOARD EMBARGO BEGINS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!

• Special exceptions can be made for technical difficulties refraining runs from being submitted on time.

A poll was conducted on the Deltarune Speedrunning Discord server, and it has been decided that a 30TBPS mod is now allowed in all categories, including Category Extensions.

What the 30TBPS Mod Does

The 30TBPS mod simply buffs the Wrist Protector to mash at 30TBPS instead of 15TBPS. We considered adding some QoL changes (e.g. faster resets), however we decided against it for now as this was not asked in the original poll.

• Survey_Program (1.00) - For OG CH1+2 Demo (not on eshop anymore)
• New CH1+2 Demo (1.06 - 1.10 PC equivalent)
• Full Release (1.00, 1.04)
• You can also import PC data.wins (e.g. 1.09). These are still submitted under Switch on the leaderboard

We are finally opening the leaderboard and lifting the spoiler policy.

As for now, feel free to add your own strats and tricks to the website by logging in with Discord, with no confidential data stored on our end!

Now let's get to leaderboard changes:

NEW CATEGORIES

Categories for both individual Chapter 3 and Chapter 4:

• Main Route, All Recruits, All Bosses

• Chapter 3 will NOT have a Glitched/Glitchless split, but Chapter 4 will.

Categories for All Chapters:

• Main Route, All Bosses

Subcategories:

• Glitched and Glitchless

• No Major Glitches has been removed from All Chapters categories.

All Shadow Crystals will be added as a miscellaneous main board category with a Glitched and Glitchless split.

TIMING RULES

Chapter 3 and 4 start timings are the same as for Chapter 2

• Selecting "Yes" on the file select to confirm name

Chapter 3 ending time:

• Cut to black after the bunker is opened

Chapter 4 ending time:

• Touching the stair transition in Kris's house.

In All Chapters, the timer will pause after Chapter 2 completion data is created (the textbox after susie falls asleep.) This will not change the timing for individual Chapter 2 runs.

IMPORTANT NEW CATEGORY RULES

• Manual mashing in Ch3&4 and full All Chapters runs will be banned for now.

• Fighting Nightmare to get ShadowMantle AND beating The Roaring Knight will be required in Chapter 3 AB

• Mike will NOT be required for Chapter 4 AB

• Skipping the retry sequence after dying to the Knight in Chapter 3 will be banned - make sure you have completion data which has died to the Knight to avoid this.

• Piano Skip in Ch4 will be temporarily banned until we see whether it is fixed in the next patch.

CATEGORY EXTENSIONS

What was previously the All Chapters category with Chapters 1+2 will be moved to Category Extensions.

Category Extensions will be reorganized into All Chapters, Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc. categories, similar to main board.

We will work on the CE changes in the coming days/weeks. Please refrain from submitting to Category Extensions until they are ready!

Feel free to talk about new Deltarune content without spoiler tags now in any channel. Have fun everyone.

Super important note: We haven't decided whether to add Weird Route and All Recruits into the All Chapters category yet and will need more discussion time. We encourage you to give your opinions about it in #src-discussion in the discord! Please stay tuned.

Today is the day. DELTARUNE™️ Chapter 3 and 4 are finally releasing!

For the occasion, let's talk a bit about the leaderboard, shall we?

We are going to do an embargo while we are going to think about how to structure it. In the meantime, we are going to lock all the current categories, and have a new one named « LEADERBOARD EMBARGO ». Please refrain from submitting your runs until further notice. If you do so, your run will be considered rejected. The duration of the embargo is set to a week, but we reserve the right to change the duration of this if we feel that we need more reflection.

In the meantime, the moderation team wishes you a good discovery of the game and have fun!

Recently, Twitch has announced that on April 19, they are removing highlights from accounts that have over 100 hours of highlights (until you are below 100 hours). This means that if your Twitch account has over 100 hours of highlights, your runs on speedrun.com are at risk of losing its video footage.

If you have runs on speedrun.com from Twitch, and you are at or are nearing 100 hours in Twitch highlights, it is highly recommended that you re-upload your speedruns for all games on a different video platform (e.g. YouTube), and edit your run submissions with a new link. You don’t need to remove your run and upload a new one, you can simply edit the run submission and change the video link (the run will need to be re-verified before it’ll re-appear on the leaderboard).

For all runs on the main and CE Deltarune leaderboard that are at risk of being deleted, we will be re-uploading the runs on likely a YouTube channel so that we can retain every run on the leaderboard. We will be beginning this process on March 31st, so please try and edit your runs before then if it applies to you. There is a lot of runs that need to be rectified, so we could gladly appreciate as many of you as possible to edit your runs so that this process becomes more manageable for us.

About a month ago, there was a community poll held in the discord to add IGT to Deltarune. After a close poll of about 70 to 5, we have added the use of IGT to the game. This IGT only makes a difference to the All Chapters categories, removing the time spent switching between chapter 1 and chapter 2. This makes the game more balanced for everyone, removing any hardware issues that may set anyone behind.

Because of this change, an option has been added to the default LiveSplit Deltarune autosplitter by NERS to pause the timer during chapter switch, as long as the autosplitter is enabled with the pause option checked, and LiveSplit is set to In-Game Time. If you are unable to run with the autosplitter pausing for you, moderators will retime every All Chapters run to remove the time for you.

The removal of this time also gives you a break in the middle of the run. You are allowed to use this break however you may need, but don't overuse it. The time spent during the break is up to the moderator's discretion, generally try not to spend longer than 5 minutes during a single break. The break must also be included in the recording, without any cuts.

The IGT box is visible when submitting to any category. You are free to fill it in when submitting an All Chapters run if you know what the IGT is. If not, that's fine too, as it will be filled in for you. If you are submitting a run that is NOT an All Chapters run, (Chapter 1 or Chapter 2), please leave the IGT box empty. Those categories use real-time, and any submitted IGT will be removed during verification anyway.

As many of you may have noticed, we have added milliseconds to Deltarune! This only applies to Chapter 1 Any% runs that are below 30 minutes long. This was in an attempt to break many of the 2, 3, and even 4-way ties on the leaderboard.

Even though we have added them, please do not submit your runs with milliseconds, to any category. Moderators and verifiers will retime them to make sure they are 100% accurate, and milliseconds will just be removed from any other category that they are submitted with. It is due to an SRC limitation that we can't set milliseconds for only Chapter 1, so we just have to deal with the additional time slot in submission and hope people leave it empty. If you do submit a run with milliseconds, it will not be rejected, it will only be edited to either be correctly timed or removed, depending on the category.

Edit: Since the writing of this news post, the following categories currently have milliseconds implemented:

• Chapter 1 Any% (Times under 30 minutes)
• Chapter 2 Main Route Glitched (Times under 28 minutes)
• Chapter 2 Snowgrave Glitchless (Times under 34 minutes)

The same aforementioned rules will apply to all categories listed here as well.
