If you are talking about the wrist protector that auto mashes the textboxes by pressing c/ctrl, then yes, it's allowed, there's no problem on using it, and almost everyone uses it

Yeah it's 100% allowed. You are automatically equiped with it on console, and you have to manually pick it up on computer versions, but it can save over 1.5 minutes that you would normally have to mash for, so it's worth it

As rainyWillow said, the Wrist Protector item that you get at the beginning of Chapter 1 in SURVEY_PROGRAM is allowed AND recommended.

In the demo version of the game, the Wrist Protector is automatically equipped when entering the Dark World. This is not exclusive to console ports unlike what Nate09 said.
