I'm looking to improve it, I think Wights can be baited and charged from behind for an almost certain instant death!
I realised for a full game run you even want to tactically kill off regiments to optimize auto-placement....
I think in a Chapter 1 run this might kill the run, the necro use the whirling blade spells and kill off horses, and I don't get it - I put a preventive barrier on them but it doesn't seem do protect them, maybe you need to cast it after he casts it?
For consistency, it would be reasonable to have all the chapter runs have mandatory levels then, no skipping at all?

Fear is really strong, units are submitted to leadership checks (which causes fear) when they're fired upon, charged, when they loose units. A very strong fear is when an enemy charges your regiment and you counter-charge that regiment, especially from a flank or even better from behind. It can cause destruction to an enemy regiment in an instant.
Charge is a good mechanic for faster movement, but remember to move the troops after finishing charging. After a charge some will straggle, and they will rejoin formation while stationary - unless you move them, then you can move them forward while rein reform formation.
Charging from the flank or from behind has a chance to roll a massive damage bonus, really strong for cavalry. It is worth it baiting an enemy and then moving around it to charge it from behind for that bonus.
Chapter 1
Level 1 - The first group of Goblin Archers will, when they flee or die, trigger the 2nd wave from the side. There's loot at the houses to the left.
Level 2 - Destroying or causing 2 enemy formations to flee will trigger the Orc Boars to come forth. The small Orc Boyz formation have a Potion of Strength, it is possible to snipe them with the x-bows, cannon and Grudgebringer Sword before they are able to consume it, giving an edge against the boars or for future battles.
Level 3 - Killing the farther Zombie regiment trigger the next Ghoul regiment. The important thing about this level is when to block the graveyard with a regiment. If you do, the zombies will spawn at the side of the graveyard and thus can rapidly destroyed. However making Ghouls spawn at the side seem to incur a time penalty and should be avoided.
Level 4 - Destroying a brigand company trigger the final 2 waves to spawn. If you already have units there the Necromancer will teleport away and you don't have to deal with him.
Bogenhafen and the Helmgarts are basically auto scrollers, more or less only the last fights matter. Use a potion of strength for those.
Level 7 (Axebite) - Tricky level. Will need to investigate it more.
Wondering if Axebite should be mandatory for the Chapter 1 run or not? It is skipable, and if one would be insane enough to do a full game run it would most certainly be skipped... Opinions?
Thanks mate, and thanks for the retiming. Yeah the charge is nice, helps with the timing of ranged attacks and spells also. I tried to make use of the swordsmen, but they just blocked the (very) narrow path to the goblins. I'm trying to map a good path for L2 now but it's trickier, I can't figure out which of the three groups trigger the boars to come, and also it's a huge risk to just let an army fight another army out. Ideally you want to make them flee as quickly as possible first.
Hi!
I was wondering whether SGG is allowed in the category AOM any%? It seems none of the runs submitted use it, but I can't see anything in the rules that prohibit the use of it.
A bonus question is also, a relative to the SGG is to inch by inch move the station so close to an adjacent town so that a similar effect is occuring, however, it's not exactly the same, as the train only turn around as the track is so short. Does this also count as an SGG?
@GamesLikeFinder If you want to be a mod as well you need to verify your e-mail.

Any one of you guys wanna mod DK2 then? As I mentioned, I have very little experience of DK2 and am not a good match to mod that game.

I am glad you're here asking important questions, it's always good to have a critical second eye.
I'll have an extra look on his run to see what is what. Good that you noticed.
[9.1] You may use it anyway you want to, everything with it is allowed.
[11] If I understand what you mean correctly you want to decrease frames per second while in menus to see the text correctly? But it doesn't go higher than the usual frame rate. In that case feel free to lower it as much as you want to in the menus. I would consider it a bit sketchy (even when it lowers the speed) to use it in an actual run.
That being said I am considering letting frame-skip be allowed on auto-scroller levels, but that will probably be a thing for the future instead...
I look forward to you runs!
[5] "...how to have an equal footing between the two versions "original and keeperfx"?"
The easy and short answer there isn't.
"For now only the first level does not match the original, so only the original can have the best time compared to the KeeperFx player?"
My take on it, and I set the most the current rules, is comparable to the rules of the Super-Mario 64 community which display their running platform. What this means in their community is that all of the top runs are in Japanese, because it has a quicker text display. There's a difference between original and KFX, but since we are a small community, I would rather prefer not to nit-pick and split categories, when there's already few people enough running the game. The other alternative would be to have it like the HL2 community, where they display Old/New engine as a main title. But of course the utopia would be to have a dedicated KFX speedrunning version, with all values as close to the original as possible but with better graphics, however this would also be unfair to the orignal version since the KFX is lag free.
Summarized, it's easier to keep this small community tight when we all run KFX, but original users are welcome too.
"On the video of the current premiere only 2 Tunneller appears, while playing the KeeperFX 0.4.6u version and it's 4 creatures 2 Tunneller / 2 Thief normally how is this done?"
This I do not know, you can however join this discord https://discord.gg/mFfT5aE and ask Glitchy yourself, if you want to find out. It can be so that it automatically assigns KFX to the run when he submitted it although he runs it on original. But it does look as if he plays on KFX...
[5.1] KFX has different level data from the original as well as creature data. Some things are just random changes in the maps which make them more/less difficult. And for creature data it is mostly to mitigate obvious bugs, such as, when a creature has its accuracy stat increased over 999, it resets to 0, making for example high level Horned Reapers useless in the original.
[7] I'd recommend either asking YourMaster here: https://discord.gg/mFfT5aE and/or trying the 0.4.7 version of KFX. Maybe it'll change it. There's also a FAQ thread on keeperklan over usual KFX bugs.
[8] I don't think that is possible without individually manipulating the game files...
[9] Yes! If you find a good way to use it I will buy you a bottle of fine wine though.
[10] For me that sounds absolutely fine as an alternative if you want to run original. DOSbox through any medium is allowed, not only through GOG.
I'm glad to try to help. I'm sorry the information available is so unclear. I am the only one actively modding and running so I really appreciate any feedback for rules or anything... It's nice to have another active member of the community :)
Firstly, most welcome, Orange Keeper, nice to hear you want to start run this game!
I will try to answer your questions as well as I can.
[1] Exactly, as of now, the timer starts when "we can click and move" for the individual levels (1, 2, 3 etc.).
[2] It is possible, however there is not yet a script for that. I tried to make one but I am not a programmer, sadly. But it shouldn't be too difficult. Anyone with scripting skills should be able to do it. But until then you can very effectively use it manually.
[2.1] I do not know, sorry. It should be able to somehow. If you have two or more computer screens it should be easier to try the layout out in OBS or whichever recording program you use.
[3] I run on 0.4.6u (std 1850) which is the same as yours. As long as you don't modify it yourself, we consider it fully legit and you can just start running with the vanilla 0.4.6u (std 1850) patch.
[4] I recommend KeeperFX, either 0.4.6u (std 1850). I think there's a french language option in the game files, if there is; you're allowed to change the language of the game as there is no impact on game time. Then you also can play in HD without lag.
[5] No, this is not allowed. Either you run the modified KFX version or the original game. They are not exactly the same, KFX is quicker in some regards while original is quicker in other. [6a] Therefore it is very important to keep the versions apart until we figure out which is faster in general or until we get a version with original map values in the KFX version.
[6b] I answered this as a part of the former message. I do not know which version is the fastest. I think KFX is more difficult in general but it has the upper hand as it has no lag or weird AI bugs.
[7] This question I did sadly not understand. You have graphical bugs as you cast spells in the original game?
If you have more questions please don't hesitate to ask. I will do my best to answer them, and again, welcome!
That's very true. Although as far as I've heard, some people do actually prefer that way of playing DK1. Could be a good way of attracting a new runner-base? For the any%, we could prepare the level before and save it in "resources" so that it won't be that gruesome for everyone wanting to try it.
/BNDR
I think the combination of Any% and "No transfer" would be the best. I don't run this category though, so it's primarily up to what you prefer at this point. I can make a category if you want to.
/BNDR
I mean there's also the discussion to be had what is regarded TAS and not. If you, in the video editing phase, respeed the run, it'll be a very nice TAS version. Which is also more fun to watch for a potential viewer.
/BNDR
Pretty much the title. We're starting up a running community for Seven Kingdoms, and the primary category will be In-game time measures, but it is not measured in minutes and seconds rather years and days, or, ticks.
Is it possible to anyhow change the layout so that it displays anything else than hours, minutes and seconds?
