Basic question, are runs permitted using an Analogue Pocket? Not sure if this is considered emulating or original hardware by the community. I'm not planning on submitting competitive or high level times but still curious if this has been discussed before.
No, it is not allowed for the leaderboard. Whether or not it is emulating doesn't matter too much (though I think most of us do see it as emulation), the big issue is that RNG Manips that work on GBP, GBA, (and GBC) will not work on the Analogue Pocket which implies that it's not behaving the same as original hardware from power on. So it is not accurate enough for the LB. As far as I know, this issue applies to all FPGAs that are out there right now. Under Game Rules you can see the full list of allowed hardware and links to the two approved emulators. You can of course practice on Analogue Pocket if that's how you enjoy playing - I'd suggest sticking with the manipless / "Classic" category in that case though since manips won't work right.
