Separate Leaderboard for NFL Player Challenge?

Did the leaderboard just get split into "NFL Player Challenges" and "NO NFL Player Challenges" categories? What's the argument for those being two separate leaderboards? If it was a game-breaking glitch, I'd get it, but it's just a minor route change.

My 5h24m run didn't use an NFL player, but I don't think that run deserves to be atop its own leaderboard.

It's just to add depth to the game. NFL Player challenges are all the same being games to 24 that give you players with potentially very good stats. a game to 24 can be done in under 2min, so it defeats the purpose of routing in unique challenges to develop your own team.

It's true there isn't really a big difference between how long it takes to do either.

Can certainly debate whether or not to have subcategories. I personally think separating NFL players / No NFL Players makes sense.

I Made Adjustments open to any and all feedback.

  • Main Category reverted to original state.

NFL Challenge and NFL Challenge Co-op

This is simply beat the 8 NFL Division Ladder Matches as fast as possible without using Gameshark codes or cheats.

Start Timer when Selecting EA Field or West Coast Challenge Location.

Stop Timer When Selecting Exit Game after Beating Legends Team.

The Decision to Start the Timer on selecting Challenge Location was initially determined when I First added this game to SRC.

This is to allow any Custom Team Creation without counting that towards the Overall time of the run while Selecting challenges, setting lineups do count towards the Overall time of runs.

  • I just added Miscellaneous Categories: NO NFL Player Challenges and No NFL Player Challenges Co-op

These categories have a Subcategory Roster Type

The Reason I decided to add The No NFL Player Challenges category is to Have a run dedicated to Sticking with the initial 7 Players you start with throughout the entire run as apposed to adding NFL Players which Creates a different Dynamic to beating the NFL Challenge mode.

The Change I just made is to put this into Misc Category, so it is listed separately altogether as it is not the fastest most efficient way to beat NFL Challenge, therefore it is just to add depth to the leaderboards for anyone who is interested in doing runs with initial 7 Players.

This will be the Final Change to SRC for NFL Street categories unless a category extension leaderboard with more ideas surfaces. In the event that is the case, I will probably move No NFL Player challenges there and only have the main category here with Individual Challenges (Levels leaderboard).

I think everything as it stands is very clean and organized.

I am available to answer any questions if anybody is unclear on rules, timing etc.

Personally, I would just have one category for NFL challenge without subcategories. My new record had no NFL players just to cut back on time not playing the ladder games and I could max speed without the shoes from AFC North (I hate the variability of times it takes me to beat that challenge). It would seem counterintuitive to have the best time be stuck in a subcategory instead of under the main NFL challenge category, but that’s just my two cents

This isn't proven. We're talking about a small route deviation where someone might spend 5 minutes to save a few more over the course of a 4+ hour run with tons of randomness. The fastest run could very well forego an NFL player (as it seems YoungVanilla's does.) How would you handle this?

As long as the main leaderboard hosts the fastest runs, regardless of whether they include NFL players or not, then the secondary leaderboard is harmless. Unnecessary IMO, but harmless. The real issue would be if it works as YoungVanilla described, where the fastest run would be buried in a hidden leaderboard while a slower run is atop the main leaderboard.

Verified and also added your run YoungVanilla to No NFL Player Challenges (Custom) Subcategory.

I mean it's an open Debate Really.

As Mentioned the way it is now Has the Original Beat NFL Challenge as Fast as possible from start to Finish Listed on top, subcategories just there for expansion. I completely agree that the difference between time is almost non negligible since the fastest team build is always to get a Mobile QB with a Competent WR for 2 Point Conversions with the Rest of the Team being barely spent any Dev Points on if at all. So yes the only competitive category and one seen initially is just Beat NFL Challenge.

Starting with the other non Custom Team Rosters types is interesting enough for me to List Separately, it's not going to be much deviation from the Overall Time of the run, or the QB + WR Strat used but does have unique character development between Roster Types. I think its fine to have those in Misc categories, otherwise I can make a category extension leaderboard but either way underlining the fact those subcategories are not important just an option if anyone wanted to submit runs using non Custom Roster Types. Custom is definitely the Fastest Route so my reasoning behind listing the other Roster Types separately is to document any runs done with those since they would otherwise be obsolete entirely. (Which they basically are, I understand the counter argument to not have those subcategories at all, however they are clear separate options when starting NFL Challenge)

Recruiting NFL Players may not be faster. Pros and Cons for sure. Any Challenges outside of ladder matches add extra time to the run, but may also speed up ladder matches over the course of the run. It's Fascinating to see the routes and ideas different runs have shown. Probably what I like most about the speedrun of this game is that it's not linear when it comes to team development. Quick Defensive Scores can really push the Times Down, but also just letting the opponent score immediately and Going for Consistent Offensive Drives can be faster then failing to Recover a Fumble / Interception / Stolen Pitch after 3 or more Defensive plays.
